Defeat Mortal Kombat 1’s hidden pink ninja, Floyd, and you unlock The Field, a grassy stage set at sunset. The fight is reached through hidden challenges—not by selecting Floyd from the roster. Guides report that you need to complete 10 challenges from a pool of 37, though the challenges and their order vary by player.

What the Floyd fight unlocks

The main reported reward for beating Floyd is The Field, a sunset-lit grassy arena. The pink ninja is a hidden boss, not a playable roster character. Guides identify his name and color as a Pink Floyd joke; the sources reviewed do not include an official developer explanation. Gameranx’s guide describes the stage reward and encounter, while a GameFAQs player guide also covers the secret fight.

How to trigger Floyd’s secret fight

According to Destructoid’s January 2025 guide, the game tracks 37 possible hidden challenges, and completing 10 is enough to trigger the encounter. The exact assignment and order are player-specific, so a checklist from another player is not a guaranteed sequence for your save.

Complete hidden match challenges

Examples Destructoid lists include performing four taunts in a match, winning without jumping, landing exactly 13 sweeps, and fulfilling character-specific actions. These are examples from the challenge pool, not a universal ten-step recipe. When a challenge counts, the guide says a pink Floyd icon and a guitar riff provide an in-game confirmation.

Choose a mode, but expect reports to differ

Guides do not agree on a single mode-specific procedure. Gameranx describes completing challenges in Towers of Time or local versus against AI and discusses ladder-match hints. Destructoid recommends local modes and says the fight may appear after the tenth notification or after starting Player vs. CPU. The GameFAQs guide describes different mode restrictions. Because the sources are guides rather than official Floyd instructions, mode behavior may differ by platform or game state; use the challenge feedback in your own matches rather than assuming one guide’s route is universal.

Look for the encounter after the tenth confirmation

Once you have ten successful challenge notifications, follow the resulting in-game prompt or start another match if Floyd does not appear immediately. Destructoid specifically reports that beginning Player vs. CPU can trigger the fight after the tenth notification. Defeat him to receive the reported Field stage unlock.

Is there a night version of The Field?

A community-maintained Mortal Kombat Wiki entry for The Field reports a night variant associated with a later Floyd Tower in Towers of Time, after unlocking the sunset stage. This variant is less firmly established than the initial Field reward: the official material in the sources reviewed does not confirm its availability or conditions. Treat it as a community-reported possibility and check the current in-game Towers of Time content.

What is officially documented?

The specific Floyd challenge count, trigger behavior, and Field reward in the guides above are reported by guide writers, not confirmed in the official product page. Warner Bros. Games’ Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition announcement provides edition and platform context, but it is not Floyd-specific documentation. Nothing in the cited guides indicates that a special controller or separate purchase is needed to attempt the secret fight.
