Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Yes—there are several safe things to try if MiSide keeps crashing on your Steam Deck. Steam currently labels the game Playable, which means it can work but may require manual configuration; it is not a guarantee that every Deck setup will be crash-free. Start with SteamOS updates and a restart, then test one change at a time so you can tell what affects the crash.
Before you troubleshoot: note when MiSide crashes
After each step, launch the game and check whether the same crash happens. Note whether it occurs at startup, during a particular scene, or after resuming from sleep. This helps distinguish a repeatable MiSide problem from broader Deck instability; it does not assume any one of those situations is a known cause.
Make only one change between tests. If a setting makes things worse, undo it before moving on.
1. Install SteamOS updates and restart
- Open the Steam menu and check for available system updates.
- Install any available updates, then restart the Steam Deck from the Steam menu.
- Launch MiSide and check whether the crash still occurs.
Valve recommends updating the system and restarting when troubleshooting instability. Valve’s Steam Deck troubleshooting guide covers this general advice.

- 1TB NVMe SSD
- 1280 x 800 HDR OLED display with premium anti-glare etched glass, 7.4" Diagonal display size up to 90Hz refresh rate
- Wi-Fi 6E
- 50Whr battery; 3-12 hours of gameplay (content-dependent)
- Carrying case with removable liner
2. Temporarily close third-party Desktop Mode applications
Quit or temporarily disable third-party applications you installed or run in Desktop Mode, then return to Gaming Mode and test MiSide. If the game stops crashing, re-enable those applications one at a time to see whether the problem returns. This is a reversible check for a possible software conflict, not proof that a particular app is responsible.
3. Check what Steam’s Playable rating means
Steam lists MiSide as Playable on Steam Deck. Valve’s compatibility guidance distinguishes that rating from Verified: a Playable game may work while requiring manual configuration. The label is useful context, but it does not identify the cause of an individual crash or promise crash-free play.

The store’s system requirements are for Windows PCs, not diagnostic thresholds for Steam Deck crashes. They should not be treated as a way to predict whether a particular Deck will run the game reliably.
4. Test a Steam Play compatibility tool
- In your Steam Library, open MiSide’s game page and select the gear icon.
- Choose Properties, then Compatibility.
- Enable the option to force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool.
- Select the latest Proton version available in the list, launch the game, and check for the same crash.
- If the result is worse, return to the menu and undo the change before testing another option.
Valve recommends trying a Steam Play compatibility tool and the latest Proton in general Steam Deck troubleshooting. No particular Proton release is established as a universal fix for MiSide, so treat this as a controlled test rather than a guaranteed solution.
5. Lower graphics settings as a diagnostic test
If you can reach the game’s graphics options, lower the preset or reduce individual settings, then test again. Change one setting or group at a time so you can identify whether behavior changes. Valve includes lowering graphics settings among its general troubleshooting suggestions, but that does not establish graphics load as the cause of a MiSide crash.
6. Check whether other games or apps are also unstable
Test another game or app you normally use. If instability is limited to MiSide, prioritize the game-specific compatibility tests and contact its support team if the crash persists. If other games or apps are also unstable after updating and restarting, the issue may involve the Deck more broadly; Valve’s guide suggests Steam Deck Beta participation as an optional troubleshooting path, or contacting Steam Support.
