A community datamine report published October 31, 2024, alleged that files from the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta contained IDs for Gravios, Gypceros, Nerscylla, and Gore Magala. Capcom later confirmed Gypceros, Nerscylla, and Gore Magala as returning monsters. The sources available here do not establish whether Gravios ultimately appeared in the game.
Which monsters did the beta datamine name?
Twisted Voxel’s Muhammad Ali Bari reported that a community datamine of the open-beta files had identified four monster IDs:

The October 31, 2024 article, “Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Datamine Allegedly Reveals Unannounced Returning Monsters”, described the files as evidence of possible returns. It was a secondary report about community-sourced material, not a Capcom roster announcement.
What was confirmed after the leak?
Capcom-authored coverage subsequently confirmed three of the four names. The PlayStation Blog’s second open beta post discussed Nerscylla’s comeback and Gore Magala, and said players could fight Gypceros in the beta. Capcom USA community manager Joseph Bustos called Gypceros “this returning monster” in the post.

Capcom France’s February 5, 2025 recap also described Nerscylla and Gore Magala as returning monsters and said Gypceros would be introduced in the second beta. The PlayStation Blog listed the beta sessions as February 6–9 and February 13–16, 2025, Pacific Time. Its content included the prior test content, Gypceros, an advanced Arkveld quest, and a training area. The post cautioned that the beta did not reflect all weapon-action and balance adjustments planned for the full release.

What the datamine did—and did not—prove
A monster ID in beta files is not, on its own, proof that the monster was fully implemented, playable, or guaranteed to remain in the final game. Twisted Voxel’s interpretation relied in part on its observation that monster IDs had historically been consistent across entries; that was the report’s rationale, not a Capcom guarantee.
For Gypceros, Nerscylla, and Gore Magala, later official coverage supplied confirmation beyond the alleged file IDs. For Gravios, the sources cited here do not answer whether the ID represented a final, playable appearance. That uncertainty should not be turned into a claim that Gravios was cut or never appeared.

Why “unannounced” needs a date
“Unannounced” accurately describes the four names as presented in the original October 2024 leak report. It does not describe their status indefinitely: Capcom later confirmed three. A June 8, 2026 Capcom announcement said the paid expansion Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance was in development for release in 2027, with new quest ranks, locales, monsters, and expanded weapon actions planned; it also said the game was being developed for Nintendo Switch 2 alongside existing platforms. That later expansion announcement does not establish anything about the earlier beta-file claim. Capcom’s announcement.
