It is a free update for existing Minecraft owners on Java and Bedrock Edition, not a separate add-on to buy. The update refreshes baby-mob looks and sounds, and also adds craftable Name Tags, Golden Dandelions, baby mounts, baby villagers, and a trumpet note-block instrument.
What is Minecraft Tiny Takeover?
Tiny Takeover is the first Minecraft game drop of 2026. Mojang describes it as an update centered on baby mobs, with changes to their appearance and sounds alongside other additions. It is available for both Java and Bedrock Edition.
The official announcement calls the redesign “dozens” of baby mobs, but does not provide a complete itemized count. The Java snapshot notes published during development document examples including cows, sheep, pigs, cats, ocelots, mooshrooms, wolves, chickens, rabbits, dolphins, squid, glow squid, turtles, axolotls, horses, donkeys, mules, zombie and skeleton horses, bees, foxes, goats, camels, armadillos, polar bears, llamas, pandas, hoglins, zoglins, striders, and snifflets. Those snapshots were previews; they are not the release itself. Mojang’s Tiny Takeover page has the release overview, while the historical January 7 snapshot notes and later snapshot notes, snapshot notes, and snapshot notes record how the features expanded during testing.
What changed for baby mobs?
Many baby mobs have refreshed models and textures, giving them distinct proportions and a more deliberately youthful appearance. New sounds are part of the update too: the early Java snapshot specifically introduced new sounds for baby wolves, cats, and pigs. Mojang’s release overview also highlights baby mounts and baby villagers among the drop’s additions.
#1 Best Overall
- 18 iconic Minecraft characters – packed for play and display; includes Steve, Alex, Piglin, Creeper, Snow Golem, Glow Squid
- Authentic game-inspired sculpts – pixel-perfect detailing; collect Alex, Wild Axolotl, Yellow Llama, and more
- Made with durable die-cast metal – built to last; high-quality construction for active play and shelf appeal
- Exciting mix of mobs and adventurers – from pandas to zombies; great for storytelling or creating diorama battles
- Jada Toys – Officially licensed Minecraft collectibles; trusted by collectors and gamers of all ages
The snapshot examples show the breadth of the redesign, but they do not establish a complete list of every changed mob in the released update. The safe takeaway is that the drop covers a broad range of land and aquatic creatures, not just kittens and puppies.
How does the Golden Dandelion work?
A Golden Dandelion lets players keep eligible baby mobs young. Feed one to a baby mob to stop its aging; feed it another to let aging resume. The recipe unlocks after breeding a mob and uses one Dandelion with eight Gold Nuggets.

- LEGO MINECRAFT TOY WITH ANIMALS – The Baby Pig House is packed with pretend play fun for girls and boys ages 7 years old and up who have a passion for Minecraft, home-building, animals and farms
- MINECRAFT FIGURES – This set includes a hero character in a wolf skin, a baby pig, bee, an adult pig and a zombified piglin
- BUILDABLE PLAYSET – Kids build a pig-shaped house that comes with a farm plot where potatoes and beets grow, plus a field with a gate to guide the baby pig through and more
- AUTHENTIC DETAILS – Inside the house, there’s a Minecraft crafting table, a bed and a bookcase to inspire imaginative play
- MINECRAFT EASTER GIFT FOR KIDS – This build-and-play toy is a fun birthday, holiday or any-day gift idea for girls and boys
It cannot be used on hostile baby mobs or Villagers, according to the snapshot feature notes. That makes it a way to preserve the baby stage for eligible animals, rather than a universal age-control item.
What else is in the update?
- Craftable Name Tags: The Java snapshot recipe uses Paper and any metal nugget.
- More baby-mob sounds: The January snapshot introduced new baby Wolf, Cat, and Pig sounds.
- A trumpet note-block instrument: One of the drop’s additional features for players building with note blocks.
- Baby mounts and villagers: These are also included in the official release overview.
Snapshot details describe features in testing; they should not be mistaken for a separate release or treated as the final authority on every detail. See the official release page for Mojang’s launch description.

How do you get Tiny Takeover?
If you already own Minecraft, update the game through the normal update process for your device. The drop is free for owners; you do not need to purchase a separate pack, special hardware, or an accessory. Mojang says it is available on both Java and Bedrock Edition.
If you do not own Minecraft, you will need access to the game itself before you can play the update. Nintendo lists a physical Nintendo Switch edition of Minecraft, but buying that copy is relevant only if you need the game on Switch—not if you already own Minecraft and simply want Tiny Takeover. Nintendo’s Switch listing identifies the physical edition.
