If you’re looking for the old Minecraft: Pocket Edition Demo on Android, the verified official option today is a different app: Minecraft Trial. Mojang’s current Android trial offers a limited Survival experience. The historic Pocket Edition Demo was an older, more restricted app; its current availability and compatibility with modern Android devices have not been verified.
What “Pocket Edition Demo” means
The phrase usually refers to a historical Android demo of Minecraft: Pocket Edition, not the current app in Google Play. Community records describe an early demo build that offered a limited selection of blocks and items and did not save worlds. Those details come from a 2013 Minecraft Forum discussion and a community Minecraft Wiki entry, not a current Mojang support notice.
Mojang’s 2016 Pocket Edition retrospective offers context for the game’s early development. It reported that Pocket Edition had passed 40 million players at that time; that is a historical milestone, not a current player count. The retrospective also attributes this account of an early internal version to developer Aron Nieminen: “It wasn’t even supposed to have multiplayer at first, and the first internal version only had an ASCII renderer!” That quote is about an internal build, not the released demo.
How to find the current official Android trial
- Open Minecraft’s official free-trial page and choose the Android option.
- Follow the page’s download and sign-in flow. The official route points to Mojang’s Google Play listing, Minecraft Trial.
- Check the Play listing on your device for current availability and app details. Its version and update information can change; when checked for this article, it showed version 26.52 and an update dated September 25, 2026.
This is a digital app trial, not a physical product. The listing describes a free, time-limited Survival experience focused on crafting, exploration, and fighting mobs. It contrasts the trial with the fuller game, which includes Creative mode and multiplayer; trial worlds do not transfer to the full game.

How the current Minecraft Trial works
Minecraft’s official FAQ says the trial lasts approximately 100 minutes of in-game time—about five in-game days—with slight variation by device. This limit applies to the current Minecraft Trial, not necessarily to the historical Pocket Edition Demo.
- Offline play: The current trial can be played offline.
- Online servers: Online multiplayer servers are disabled in the trial.
- Local multiplayer: LAN multiplayer is allowed under the current FAQ.
- Creative mode: The trial is centered on Survival; Creative mode is part of the fuller experience described by the Play listing.
- World transfer: Worlds made in the trial do not transfer to the full game.
Historical demo vs. current trial
| Question | Historical Pocket Edition Demo | Current Minecraft Trial |
|---|---|---|
| What is it? | An older Pocket Edition demo recorded in community sources. | Mojang’s current official Android trial, listed on Google Play as Minecraft Trial. |
| Official access route | Current listing availability and access are not verified. | Linked from Minecraft’s official free-trial page to Mojang’s Google Play listing. |
| Gameplay scope | Historical records describe restricted blocks and items. | A limited Survival experience; the Play listing describes crafting, exploring, and fighting mobs. |
| Saving worlds | The historical forum post and community wiki say demo worlds could not be saved. | Trial worlds do not transfer to the full game, according to the current Play listing. |
| Play limits | Specific historic behavior should not be assumed to match the current trial. | Approximately 100 minutes of in-game time, according to the official FAQ. |
| Multiplayer | Do not infer the old demo’s multiplayer behavior from the current trial. | Online servers are disabled; LAN multiplayer is allowed, according to the current FAQ. |
Can you still install the old demo?
There is no verified current official source confirming that the old Pocket Edition Demo can still be installed, retrieved from an account library, or run on modern Android. Historical community posts refer to an old package name and early builds, but they do not establish present-day availability or compatibility.

- The classic UNO card game builds fun on game night with a Minecraft theme.
- UNO Minecraft features a deck and storage tin decorated with graphics from the popular video game.
- Players match colors and numbers to the card on top of the discard pile as in the classic game.
- The Creeper card unique to this deck forces other players to draw 3 cards.
- Makes a great gift for kid, teen, adult and family game nights with 2 to 10 players ages 7 years and older, especially Minecraft and video game fans.
For that reason, an old APK found on an unofficial site should not be treated as an official download or as a confirmed working option. If you want to try Minecraft on Android now, use the official free-trial page and its linked Google Play listing instead.
