In unmodified Minecraft, neither “Farlander” nor “White Enderman” is an established official mob. The names appear in a player-submitted idea and in separate community mods, whose creatures and rules are not interchangeable. If you saw one in-game, check the game version, installed mods, resource packs, shaders, or server plugins before assuming it is a vanilla spawn.
Is the White Enderman real in Minecraft?
Not as a documented vanilla mob. A Minecraft Feedback page posted on September 3, 2022, proposes a white creature described as the opposite of a classic Enderman and calls it “also called Farlander.” The page is a user-submitted idea, not an official game guide or announcement. Its snowy-biome spawns, water immunity, and lack of teleporting are proposal details, not facts about unmodified Minecraft. Read the Minecraft Feedback proposal.
The page also includes a commenter disputing the claim that the proposed creature would not teleport. That is another player’s comment, not authoritative documentation. Questions such as “Is the white enderman true?” show why the name can be confusing, but they do not establish that the mob naturally appears in the game.
What does a normal Enderman do?
Minecraft’s official Monstrous Compendium describes Endermen as tall, black, long-limbed creatures with purple eyes, especially associated with the End. It says they shun sunlight, are hurt by water—including rain—and teleport to a safer nearby location when targeted by a ranged weapon or damaged. Direct eye contact can provoke an attack. See the Minecraft Monstrous Compendium entry.

The compendium also contains tabletop role-playing statistics. Its D&D-style hit points, armor class, and challenge rating are not Minecraft in-game stats.
What does “Farlander” mean in mods?
There is no single canonical modded Farlander. For example, the Modrinth project Farlanders describes itself as a Minecraft Java Edition mod for version 1.20.1 using Forge. It presents Farlanders as inverted-color Endermen and lists several variants:

- Elite Farlander and Enderman Elite: additional variants named by the project.
The project also describes added tools and armor. These are details from that particular mod; they should not be assumed to apply to other projects using the Farlander name.
How does the separate White Enderman mod work?
A different CurseForge project, White Enderman, lists releases for Minecraft 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, with Forge, Fabric, and NeoForge files. Its author describes a configurable one-in-100 chance for a standard Enderman to be replaced by the variant. That spawn chance and the following mechanics belong to this mod, not vanilla Minecraft or the Modrinth Farlanders project.

The CurseForge page lists September 21, 2025, as the release date of its latest listed release in the version information reviewed here. Check the project page for current files and compatibility before installing; a version number alone does not confirm that a file supports your loader or modpack.
Why might a player see a white Enderman?
A white appearance alone cannot identify its cause. The sources above do not establish what caused any particular player’s sighting. Check these possibilities before treating it as a vanilla discovery:
Rank #4
- From the hit video game, Minecraft, take home the Core Enderman Action Figure with Accessory
- Includes Core Enderman, grass block and mushroom
- Core Enderman action figure stands about 2.75 inches tall and is fully-articulated
- The Core Enderman action figure is perfect for any Minecraft fan!
- Collect all Series 1 Minecraft action figures!
- A mod that adds or changes mobs, including one of the separate projects described above.
- A resource pack or shader that changes the Enderman’s appearance.
- A server plugin or other server-side change.
- A different Minecraft edition or game version than the one assumed.
To narrow it down, confirm the edition and version, then compare the active mod list and resource packs with a fresh, unmodified world. If the mob appears only on a particular server, ask its administrator about custom content.

Identify the exact project before relying on a spawn rule, stat, or drop list. The Modrinth Farlanders project reviewed here is for Java 1.20.1 with Forge; the separate CurseForge White Enderman project lists 1.20.1 and 1.21.1 releases with loader-specific files. Their mechanics should not be combined into one set of Farlander rules.
