If Minecraft: Bedrock Edition textures or blocks turn pink, first check whether the problem affects vanilla content or only a resource pack, add-on, or custom asset. Then test another graphics mode and temporarily disable packs. These steps help narrow down the cause without changing your main world; no single confirmed fix applies to every case.
What the pink texture glitch may indicate
Pink textures have been reported in different contexts, so the color alone does not identify the cause. A current Mojang bug-tracker report for Bedrock 26.44 Hotfix on Windows describes terrain and many entity or environment textures turning pink after joining a server or loading a world, often with ray-traced graphics enabled. The report is marked unconfirmed and linked as a duplicate of MCPE-167489, titled “Textures can turn pink after playing for long periods of time.” Its observations are clues to test, not proof that ray tracing or long play causes every instance.

Older preview notes show that a similar symptom has also occurred in a different context: Mojang listed “Textures may turn pink after suspend and resume, opening Settings, or exiting world” as a known issue in Bedrock Beta & Preview 1.21.80.25 in 2025. That historical preview note does not establish a current stable-version defect or diagnose every pink texture.
Record when and where it happens
Before changing settings, note the platform, exact Bedrock version, active graphics mode, and when the pink textures appear. Also check whether the problem affects ordinary game content or just one add-on, entity, block, or resource pack. These details make it easier to choose the next test and useful if you need support.

- Vanilla content or one custom item: If only content from a particular pack is affected, prioritize pack isolation or asset checks.
- One graphics mode: If the symptom appears with ray tracing or another graphics mode but not a different mode, record that pattern.
- A particular action or session: Note whether it begins on loading, after suspend and resume, after opening Settings, or after extended play.
- One device or several: Note whether the same world and packs show the issue on another device, if one is available.
Try these low-risk troubleshooting steps
- Update Bedrock Edition. Check for and install available game updates for your platform, then retest. Minecraft Help recommends updating as an initial check for graphics issues.
- Change the graphics mode temporarily. If ray tracing is enabled, switch it off and check whether textures return. The current Windows tracker report says changing graphics mode cleared the symptom for that reporter, with pink textures reported again after switching back to ray tracing. Treat this as a diagnostic test, not a guaranteed lasting repair or a confirmed cause.
- Test without add-ons or resource packs. Temporarily turn them off and check whether the symptom remains. Minecraft Help recommends checking add-ons and video settings for graphics problems; its add-on guidance notes that conflicts or problems in resource and behavior packs can cause issues.
- Use a new test world to isolate add-ons. Create a separate world, activate the add-on or pack you want to test, and see whether the problem occurs there. Keep your original world intact while diagnosing; do not remove packs from your only copy as a test.
- Re-enable packs one at a time. If the issue disappears when packs are off, turn them back on individually and retest to identify whether one pack or a combination is associated with the symptom. A Mojang Realms report for Bedrock 1.21.40 described magenta UI and block textures with many packs enabled, but it was marked duplicate and does not establish pack count as a universal cause.
If only a custom block or entity is pink
When vanilla textures look normal and only one custom asset is affected, the pack’s files and references are a more relevant place to check than the game’s general graphics settings. Microsoft Learn’s add-on documentation describes checks for custom asset references:
- Custom entity: Compare the client-entity texture path with the actual file path, check that identifiers match exactly, confirm the image is a valid PNG, and verify the render controller references the intended texture.
- Custom block: Check the texture entry in
terrain_texture.json, confirm the name matches the block JSON, and verify the file location and image dimensions.
These checks apply to a custom asset that fails on its own; they are not a general fix for a broad failure affecting vanilla terrain or many unrelated textures.

When to contact support or report the bug
If pink textures persist in vanilla content with packs disabled and across graphics modes, contact Minecraft Support. Include your platform, exact Bedrock version, graphics mode, when the issue starts, whether packs are active, and screenshots if possible. If you report it through Mojang’s tracker, describe the same details. The current ray-tracing-related Windows report remains unconfirmed, so a report should document your symptoms rather than assume that it shares the same cause.
Avoid treating reinstalling the game, clearing arbitrary files, changing hardware, using third-party repair software, or buying another pack as established fixes; the official guidance cited here does not recommend them for this symptom.
