Minecraft’s Bundles of Bravery was an October 2024 game drop that brought the bundle item to the game and introduced Hardcore mode to Bedrock Edition. Bundles help organize different items in one inventory slot; Bedrock Hardcore makes death a permanent end to normal play in that world.
What was Minecraft’s Bundles of Bravery drop?
Mojang released Bundles of Bravery in October 2024. The Java Edition 1.21.2 release notes are dated October 21, and the Bedrock 1.21.40 changelog and main announcement are dated October 22. The drop centered on bundles and Hardcore additions; it is a historical update, not a new 2026 release. Minecraft’s updates timeline lists the drop in October 2024, while the Java 1.21.2 notes and Bedrock 1.21.40 changelog document edition-specific details.
How do bundles work in Minecraft?
A bundle holds multiple item types together in a single inventory slot and stays in the player’s inventory, unlike a chest or barrel, which must be placed in the world. It is an organization tool: the official description does not say that bundles increase total inventory capacity or provide unlimited storage. Minecraft’s announcement describes bundles as a way to group items, including items you might want to give to another player.
Java Edition recipe and controls
In the Java 1.21.2 release notes, a bundle holds one stack’s worth of items—usually 64 total—and is crafted with one string above one leather. Those notes describe inserting items directly in the inventory, viewing contents in a tooltip, and selecting an item to remove it. These are Java-specific release-note details; the cited sources do not establish that Bedrock has identical recipe details or controls.

What does Hardcore mode change on Bedrock?
Bedrock 1.21.40 introduced Hardcore mode to Bedrock Edition. When creating a Hardcore world, the difficulty is locked to the highest setting and cannot be turned off afterward. If the player dies, they cannot return to ordinary play in that world; they can only respawn as a spectator. Treat the world choice as permanent when deciding whether to enable the mode. The Bedrock 1.21.40 changelog sets out these rules.
The October 2024 launch changelog also advised players to make regular backups while Mojang addressed some smaller bugs, including two multiplayer issues. That was guidance attached to the launch period, not evidence that those issues remain unresolved now.

No. The update itself does not require a PS5. Minecraft’s PS5 launch article says the native PS5 version launched on the same day as Bundles of Bravery; that is a platform availability detail, not a requirement for the drop.
