To farm glow berries, place one beneath a block to start a hanging cave vine. Use bone meal on the vine for the manual method, or let it grow and harvest the sections that develop berries. Only berry-bearing vine sections drop a berry when harvested.
How to start a glow berry farm
- Find a glow berry. Lush caves are a natural place to find glow berries on cave vines; structure chests are another possible source, according to the Minecraft Wiki.
- Place the glow berry beneath a block to start a hanging cave vine, following the Wiki’s cave-vine farming tutorial.
How to produce more berries
Use bone meal for the manual method
Apply bone meal to the cave vine to produce berries, then harvest the berry-bearing section. This is the tutorial’s direct method when you want to prompt berry production rather than wait for vine growth.
Let the vine grow
You can also leave the vine to grow and harvest sections that contain berries. Minecraft’s official Bedrock 1.16.220.52 changelog, published in April 2021, says growing cave vines have a chance of containing glow berries. It does not establish a current growth rate or a guaranteed wait time, so plan to check the vine rather than rely on a specific schedule.
How to harvest cave vines
Check each section before harvesting: a berry-bearing section yields one glow berry, while an empty section yields none. The Minecraft Wiki’s glow berries reference also says Fortune does not increase the drop. Harvesting only sections that show berries avoids collecting empty vine sections when your goal is a berry supply.
