Find a Cherry Grove in mountainous foothills near terrain like Meadows. Gather Cherry logs, saplings, and Pink Petals for building and decoration, or use the biome’s open, scenic terrain as a base location. Groves can be small and hard to spot, so finding one may take exploration.
Where to find a Cherry Grove
Search mountain areas, especially foothills and places with terrain similar to Meadows. Mojang’s Java Edition 1.20 release notes say the biome appears in mountain areas like Meadows: Minecraft: Java Edition 1.20 (Trails & Tales). The official biome feature describes Cherry Groves as potentially small and difficult to find: Around the Block: Cherry Grove.
When you reach one, look for cherry trees with broad pink crowns, drifting pink particles beneath their leaves, and Pink Petals on the ground. Mojang introduced the biome with the Trails & Tales update in 2023; its update announcement also places it in mountain areas like Meadows: The Trails & Tales Update is Here.
What to collect and how to use it
Cherry logs and saplings
Chop Cherry trees for logs, which supply the Cherry wood set for building and crafting. Collect saplings as well: plant them elsewhere to grow cherry trees without returning to the biome. The official biome introduction describes both the wood set and the ability to grow trees away from the grove: Cherry Blossom Biome coming to Minecraft 1.20.

Pink Petals
Use Pink Petals as ground decoration, or collect them for placement elsewhere. Each Pink Petals block can hold up to four petals. Apply Bone Meal to increase the petal count; mining the block yields the petals it contains, according to the Java Edition 1.20 release notes linked above.
Is a Cherry Grove a good place to build?
It can make a scenic base site if you want pink foliage, nearby Cherry wood, and terrain that stays more visible than a dense jungle or forest. Minecraft’s biome feature describes its vegetation as balanced for visibility and building material, and writer Duncan Geere calls it “a pretty good place to set up home.” The grove’s terrain is not a safety feature, however: prepare for ordinary hostile mobs after dark with lighting and a secure shelter.

What animals and structures might you find?
Mojang’s Cherry Grove introduction names pigs, sheep, and bees; the later biome feature also mentions rabbits. These are animals that may inhabit the biome, not a guarantee that every grove will contain all of them.
In Java Edition 26.3, released September 15, 2026, the release notes list Cherry Grove as a biome where an Abandoned Camp can generate: Minecraft Java Edition 26.3. This applies to the Java Edition note and does not mean every grove will have a camp; the notes give no spawn rate.
