The “Minecraft parasite mod” usually means Scape and Run: Parasites, a hostile-mob mod listed for Minecraft Java Edition 1.12.2 with Forge. To use it, install the 1.12.2 Forge version of the mod and launch it from a matching profile; the project listings do not establish an official release for newer Minecraft versions or Fabric.
What is the Minecraft parasite mod?
Scape and Run: Parasites on CurseForge and the Modrinth project listing describe a mod that adds hostile parasite-themed creatures to Minecraft. The project descriptions say some parasites learn from fights and evolve. They also describe parasites as having no biome-specific spawn restriction, not burning in daylight, and being able to attack other hostile mobs. These are claims from the project pages, not independently tested gameplay findings.
The listings identify Minecraft Java Edition 1.12.2 and Forge as the supported setup, and indicate client and server support. Modrinth lists the project license as ARR. Check the project page before downloading in case its files or compatibility information have changed.
Before you install: match Minecraft and Forge
Use a Minecraft 1.12.2 profile running Forge, and select a mod file built for that same version and loader. CurseForge’s listing identifies 1.12.2 and says the author intended to complete the mod for that version before making a port. The consulted project listings do not establish an official newer-version port or a Fabric release, so do not assume a file for a different version or loader will work.

Install with the CurseForge app
A launcher-managed profile is the simpler route if you do not want to place files manually. The app’s interface may change; its support guide describes installing a mod from its listing into a new or existing compatible profile. A mod-specific wiki tutorial also recommends the CurseForge launcher for beginners, but its exact controls may no longer match the current app.
- In the CurseForge app, find the Scape and Run: Parasites project.
- Choose Install, then create a new profile or select an existing profile compatible with the mod.
- Check the profile details and confirm they show Minecraft 1.12.2 and Forge.
- Launch that profile. If the mod is not listed or the game fails to start, check that the profile and downloaded file use the same Minecraft version and loader.
CurseForge’s general instructions are in its guide to installing Minecraft mods and modpacks. For the project-specific wiki steps, see the Installation Tutorial; its page could not be opened during research, so treat its button names as potentially outdated.

Install the mod manually
- Download a Scape and Run: Parasites file for Minecraft 1.12.2 from its CurseForge page or Modrinth page.
- Install Forge for Minecraft 1.12.2, then create or select the Forge launcher profile.
- Put the downloaded mod
.jarin that profile’smodsfolder. If you use a launcher that creates a separate instance directory, use that instance’s folder rather than assuming the default Minecraft directory. - Launch the Forge profile. CurseForge’s Java Edition installation guide says a correctly modded launch should show a Mods button on the main menu.
For default locations, CurseForge’s guide gives %appdata%.minecraft on Windows and ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft on macOS. The game version and mod loader still need to match.

Which installation method should you choose?
