MiniSquadron Special Edition launched in 2010 as a follow-up to the original mobile arcade shooter, adding eight levels, helicopters, more than 50 additional planes, new combat options and achievements. Its “Out Now” announcement refers to that launch—not a confirmed current download: an Android archive records its Google Play removal in 2017, and current iOS availability for this edition is not established.
What MiniSquadron Special Edition is
MiniSquadron Special Edition is a mobile follow-up to MiniSquadron, a fast arcade shooter built around small aircraft fighting in the air. In an April 8, 2010 announcement, developer Tak Fung introduced the Special Edition and described aerial maneuvers including loop-the-loops and Immelman turns. The launch-era announcement is available on the developer’s blog.
Contemporary coverage described the release for iPhone and iPod touch. Pocket Gamer’s catalog identifies Supermono Studios as developer and Gray Fin Studios as publisher, and lists iPhone and Android; Gray Fin’s page separately describes the original MiniSquadron as originally developed for iPhone/iPod touch by Supermono, followed by Gray Fin’s Android release. Those credits and platform references are historical, not confirmation of current compatibility or store availability. TouchArcade’s contemporary report also described multiplayer against a friend over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. That is a launch-era feature description, not a guarantee that multiplayer services or the required connections still work on current devices. Read the TouchArcade coverage.
How the launch-era download and purchases worked
Pocket Gamer reported that the game was free to download with two opening levels. Players could then buy the remaining six levels in three two-level packs, reported at £0.59 or $0.99 per pack at the time. These are 2010 launch prices and purchase terms; they do not establish present-day prices or whether the purchases can still be made. Can you download MiniSquadron Special Edition today?
Current availability is not confirmed across storefronts or regions. AppBrain’s archive says the Android Special Edition was removed from Google Play on December 23, 2017, and is no longer available there; that is evidence about its Google Play listing, not every possible Android distribution channel. For iOS, the available archive record concerns a later, separate app called MiniSquadron – GameClub, not the Special Edition. AppsHunter says that GameClub app was no longer distributed by Apple and was last seen on September 2, 2025; it does not establish the Special Edition’s present status. Check the storefront for your own region and device if you are trying to find the game, and do not assume an old listing means it can be downloaded or will run on a current phone.

The original game’s identity is described on Gray Fin Studios’ page, which calls it a frantic shooter and mentions local Wi-Fi multiplayer. That page concerns MiniSquadron generally and should not be read as a current availability statement for the Special Edition.
