Its main gameplay change adjusts projectile targeting: shots have less collision tolerance close to the shooter, with that tolerance gradually increasing during flight. The snapshot also revises fog, including making it thicker in rain. It is a test build, not a full release or a Bedrock update.
What changed in Minecraft snapshot 25w19a?
Projectile targeting
Projectiles now begin with no target-tolerance margin for the first two ticks of flight. After that, the margin grows by 0.05 blocks per tick until it reaches the former 0.3-block margin. Mojang says the change is intended to make aiming more precise near the shooter while retaining some collision leeway farther away. [Mojang’s 25w19a notes]
Fog and rain
Fog received adjustments intended to improve atmospheric perspective, and the world becomes foggier when it rains. The notes describe visual changes rather than a new weather system.
Technical changes
The data pack version is now 76. The --quickPlaySingleplayer command-line argument can be used without an identifier to launch the last-played world. The snapshot also includes data- and resource-pack changes, such as separating shader fog and adding entity-owner data for primed TNT and Vexes.

How does 25w19a fit into the 2025 snapshots?
The earlier snapshots in 2025 introduced more visible world features. January’s 25w02a added falling-leaf particles, cold and warm pig variants, Wildflowers, and Leaf Litter, and made Lodestones easier to craft. Snapshot 25w15a, the first snapshot of the second 2025 game drop, added the Dried Ghast block, Happy Ghast, Harness items, advancements, and an experimental locator bar. Its announcement also said snapshots would move to Tuesdays to align with full releases. [25w02a notes] [25w15a notes]
By contrast, 25w19a centers on projectile behavior, atmosphere, and technical work rather than introducing a headline creature or block set.
How do I install a Minecraft Java snapshot?
- Open the Minecraft Launcher.
- Go to the Installations tab and enable snapshots.
- Select the snapshot installation to play 25w19a.
Mojang’s snapshot page provides the installation guidance, along with links to the cross-platform server jar and issue tracker. Snapshot builds are available for Java Edition; this is not a Bedrock update. [Mojang’s 25w19a notes]

Yes. Mojang warns that testing versions can corrupt worlds. Back up any world you want to keep, or use a game folder separate from your main worlds. This reduces the risk to your regular saves; it does not make a snapshot build a finished release.
