A September 2026 report described a Mortal Kombat section returning to the Item Shop, but that is evidence of earlier shop content—not confirmation of a future release. Epic’s October 1 Fortnitemares announcement does not include Mortal Kombat.
Has Epic announced a new Mortal Kombat Fortnite release?
No new release is confirmed in the official sources available as of October 8, 2026. Epic’s October 1 Fortnitemares 2026 announcement names the event’s announced crossover properties but does not mention Mortal Kombat. Epic’s Fortnite News index corroborates the date and placement of that announcement; neither source gives a future Mortal Kombat date, character, or item.
Why are players talking about Mortal Kombat in Fortnite?
A September 11, 2026 report by Playnews said the Item Shop displayed a Mortal Kombat section earlier that month and described it as a return. The report attributed the section name to Epic’s French content API. That supports the claim that Mortal Kombat shop content appeared before; it does not establish that a new collaboration is on the way.
Playnews said some pricing and item details came from a community catalog mirror rather than direct Epic confirmation. Those details should therefore be treated as reported, not as verified official specifications.

Is Mortal Kombat in the Fortnite Item Shop now?
Epic’s Fortnite discovery page showed the current season and displayed shop selection when reviewed, but no Mortal Kombat item appeared in that selection. The page changes as shop contents rotate, so a snapshot cannot prove that an item is permanently unavailable—or predict when it might return.
