Scopely announced on March 14, 2024, that MONOPOLY GO! had passed $2 billion in lifetime revenue. The company said the milestone came 10 months after the game launched and three months after it reached $1 billion. The announcement does not define what it includes in “lifetime revenue,” so the figure should be read as Scopely’s own reported milestone—not as an audited result or a third-party estimate.
When did MONOPOLY GO! reach $2 billion?
Scopely announced the milestone on March 14, 2024. The company said the game reached $2 billion in lifetime revenue 10 months after launch, and just three months after passing $1 billion. Its November 2023 announcement had placed the $1 billion mark about seven months after the game’s April 2023 debut.
Scopely described the game as a free-to-play mobile reimagining of Hasbro’s MONOPOLY board game. The app is available on iOS and Android; owning or playing the physical board game is not required.
What does Scopely’s $2 billion figure measure?
The March 2024 announcement calls the amount “lifetime revenue” but does not explain its accounting scope or provide an audited breakdown. It is therefore most accurate to attribute the number to Scopely and avoid treating it as a precisely defined measure of player spending, app-store purchases, or audited revenue.

Scopely co-CEO Javier Ferreira called the pace “astounding,” writing: “That exciting moment came just ten months since launch and only three months after reaching $1 billion.” That is the company’s characterization of its milestone, not an independent assessment.
What Scopely said was driving the game’s performance
In the same reflection, Ferreira pointed to player engagement and retention. He said more than 8 million people played every day of the week, representing more than 70% of the game’s 10 million-plus daily players at that time. He also said players logged in more than three times a day on average, and that marketing recoup rates remained below 120 days almost a year after launch. These are figures and explanations reported by Scopely, not independently verified measurements.

How the $2 billion milestone compares with later figures
Later announcements use different labels and scopes, so they should not be treated as a like-for-like continuation of Scopely’s 2024 “lifetime revenue” figure.

Hasbro also acknowledged the more-than-$6-billion IAP milestone in a January 21, 2026 statement, linking readers to Sensor Tower’s report. That later, specifically scoped estimate provides current context, but it does not retroactively define the scope of Scopely’s 2024 figure.

Why the milestone drew attention
Scopely’s two-year retrospective said more than 1.4 million mobile titles had launched globally over the preceding decade, using that figure to frame the competitive environment for mobile games. The company presented MONOPOLY GO!’s growth against that backdrop; the comparison is Scopely’s framing rather than an independent ranking of the game.
