Monster Hunter Wilds’ first free Title Update was announced for April 4, 2025, bringing Mizutsune, repeatable High Rank Zoh Shia hunts, the Grand Hub and new challenge modes. Those dates and event windows are now historical; the details below explain what Capcom announced and the requirements attached to each feature.
What was in Monster Hunter Wilds’ first update?
Capcom announced the update in March 2025 as free content for Monster Hunter Wilds, which launched on February 28, 2025. Capcom’s March 31 corporate release said the game had sold more than 10 million units worldwide by that date; that is launch context, not a sales result attributed to the update. The same release put cumulative Monster Hunter series sales at more than 108 million units as of December 31, 2024. Capcom’s announcement and its detailed feature post on PlayStation Blog outline the planned additions.

When can you fight Mizutsune in Wilds?
Capcom announced Mizutsune as a hunt available from Hunter Rank 21. To start it, speak to Kanya at the Scarlet Forest Base Camp. The update also added an eight-star Tempered Mizutsune, alongside new hunter and Palico armor made available through the hunt. These were announced as update additions, not as a currently available quest schedule.
#1 Best Overall
- Wild New Adventure – Monster Hunter Wilds follows the story of a special Research Commission investigating the Forbidden Lands. Fully voiced for the first time in the series, the hunter is joined in their journey by a colorful cast of characters, including a Palico partner, Guild-appointed Handler Alma, trusty smithy Gemma, and the mysterious child Nata. Together, the team ventures into an unexplored new frontier where surprises await around every corner.
- A Living World – The Forbidden Lands spans multiple biomes with dynamic identities, such as the Windward Plains and Scarlet Forest, where the ecosystems shift between vibrant seasons brimming with life, and unforgiving climates where monsters fight over limited resources. Changes in the landscape will impact the creatures that live there and push hunters to adapt as well.
- New Monsters and Wildlife – Monster Hunter Wilds features a variety of new creatures, ranging from herds of small species to large monsters – some of which roam the Forbidden Lands in packs. Every creature hunters encounter in the wild has carved out a special place in its habitat and possesses unique attacks and behaviors.
- Players can also now ride atop the Seikret, an agile new mount enabling hunters to traverse difficult terrain, perform actions like sharpening weapons on the move, and switch between two weapons while out on hunts!
- Evolved Hunting Action – The series’ acclaimed action-packed gameplay is back and more exciting than ever! Hunters can look forward to tracking down monsters with an array of new moves, special abilities, equipment, and more. The action also now flows seamlessly from cutscenes to gameplay, resulting in a new level of immersion.
How do you unlock the Grand Hub?
The Grand Hub was announced as accessible at HR16. Speak to Tetsuzan in Suja, the Peaks of Accord, to access it. The hub was designed as a social gathering space, with meal service, social interaction and a Squad Information Counter.
Barrel Bowling and hub activities
Barrel Bowling offered a change of pace from hunts and could award useful items and pendants. The announcement also described the Grand Hub as a place for hunters to meet and take part in activities beyond the field.
Rank #2
- Hunt giant nature-infused bests – Survive their attacks, learn from their behaviors, and use your Karakuri and your weapons in combination to cut these creatures down to size.
- Craft your hunting grounds – You are the only one in Azuma able to wield the Karakuri technology.
- Hunt in a pack, or be a lone wolf – In WILD HEARTS you can face the Kemono alone or unite with up to two friends (or other players) to stalk and hunt your prey.
- Gear up to hunt, hunt to gear up – Create your character, then gather materials from each hunt and build an array of armor and weapons.
What Hunter Rank do you need for Zoh Shia and Arch-tempered Rey Dau?
Zoh Shia: HR50 for the announced mission
The update was to let hunters fight the story boss repeatedly in High Rank. Capcom announced a new Zoh Shia mission for HR50 or above. The monster might also appear during Wyvern’s Wakening in the Ruins of Wyveria. Its materials were to be used for new High Rank hunter and Palico equipment.
Arch-tempered Rey Dau: HR50 for an Event Quest
Arch-tempered Rey Dau was announced for an Event Quest requiring HR50 or above, with the quest beginning April 30, 2025. Materials from the hunt could be used to craft the Rey Dau γ and Felyne Rey Dau γ sets. The announcement establishes the original quest timing, not whether the quest is live now.

What else did the update add?
Beyond hunts and hub features, Capcom announced the option to change Alma’s outfit, some glasses unlocked through side missions, a free Alma outfit and free downloadable cosmetics. Cosmetic DLC Pack 1 was separately paid content, not part of the free update. The PlayStation Blog announcement distinguishes the free additions from that paid pack: read Capcom USA’s feature announcement.
When was the Blossomdance seasonal festival?
The Festival of Accord: Blossomdance was a limited-time 2025 event, not a permanent update feature. The original March announcement listed April 23–May 7; Capcom USA’s later April 22 follow-up specified the final schedule as April 22–May 6, 2025. It included seasonal Grand Hub decorations and food, event quests, login rewards, tickets and craftable seasonal equipment. Capcom USA’s April 22 event post gives the later dates and event details. Official sources cited here do not establish which time-limited quests are live today.
