To use someone else’s design, open the in-game Design tab while creating or editing your character, choose Download Design, and enter the code.
How to upload and share your design
Uploading is described as an appearance-editing workflow, not an option on the initial character creation screen. Start by opening the character appearance editor and saving or loading the Hunter design you want to share.

- Open the character appearance editor.
- Save or load the design you want to share.
- Open the saved design’s submenu and select Upload Design.
- Copy the generated 12-character design code and send it to the other player.
Guides describe the code as either 12 digits or 12 characters; “12-character code” is the safer description because its format is not established as numeric-only. Menu wording may vary by game build, so check the labels shown in your current version. GamesRadar’s guide and TheGamer’s guide describe the upload and download flow.
How to download and apply a design code
You can enter a code during character creation or later in the editing screen:

- Evolved Hunting Action – The series’ acclaimed action-packed gameplay is back and more exciting than ever! Hunters can look forward to tracking down monsters with an array of new moves, special abilities, equipment, and more. The action also now flows seamlessly from cutscenes to gameplay, resulting in a new level of immersion.
- Go to the character creation or character editing screen.
- Open the Design tab.
- Select Download Design.
- Enter the 12-character code, confirm, and apply the downloaded appearance design.
The available guides establish that this loads another player’s appearance design, but they do not specify every field it changes. Do not assume it also transfers a character’s name, voice, equipment, or other profile settings.
Do you need a Character Edit Voucher?
Voucher requirements depend on the editing action, platform, and current game version. Older guides say a Character Edit Voucher is needed to access the editor for creating a shareable design. PlayStation and Xbox storefront listings describe vouchers as add-on content for redoing Hunter appearance and voice. The PlayStation listing separately says players can change hair, eyebrows, facial hair, makeup, and clothing in a tent’s Appearance Menu without a voucher. Check the current in-game options and your platform’s storefront rather than assuming every edit or upload requires a purchase. PlayStation Store listing; Xbox Store listing.

Announced voucher changes
GamesRadar reported on September 17, 2026, that Capcom had announced free Hunter and Palico appearance editing without vouchers with the Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance update in 2027, and that vouchers would be removed from sale on December 3, 2026. Those are announced future changes, not proof that the policy is already live. Check Capcom’s current announcements and your game version before relying on them. GamesRadar’s report.

If a code fails, first check that you entered all 12 characters and selected Download Design from the Design tab. The available information does not establish whether a failed code is expired, platform-restricted, or invalid for another reason.
