Motivational Shocks is a Booster in the Polar Patriots Premium Warbond. Its description says Helldivers recover faster after certain attacks slow them, such as acid, but specifically excludes area effects such as EMS strikes. That wording does not establish that it counters every slow source—or confirm its current behavior against acid.
What Motivational Shocks does
The Helldivers Wiki lists Motivational Shocks on page 1 of the Polar Patriots Premium Warbond for 15 Medals. The description says it lets Helldivers recover faster after being slowed by an attack, giving acid as an example, while stating that it does not mitigate area effects such as EMS strikes. The Helldivers Wiki’s item page and a community-maintained Booster data file repeat that basic description.

Does it work against acid or EMS?
Acid
Acid is named in the item description, but that alone is not proof of its current in-game behavior. The wiki reports that acid slow behavior has not always matched the description and reproduces an Arrowhead support response dated March 18, 2025, saying the report would be passed to QA. That exchange indicates investigation, not a confirmed resolution. The sources available here do not establish a definitive current result for acid.
EMS
The description explicitly excludes area effects such as EMS strikes. The wiki likewise identifies Orbital EMS Strike clouds as an exception in its discussion of stun effects. Do not treat Motivational Shocks as protection from EMS-area effects.

Other reported effects and limits
The Helldivers Wiki describes the Booster as shortening some movement-affecting effects, but its detailed figures are community-wiki claims rather than independently verified tests. It reports that the stun-medium effect from the G-23 Stun and CQC-30 Stun Baton is shortened by about 2.5 seconds, that other stun effects are halved except Orbital EMS Strike clouds, and that Tremors are reduced by 25%. These reports illustrate why the description should not be generalized into “all slows are reduced.” The precise current behavior by source is not established by an official source in the materials cited here.
Patch history
The Helldivers Wiki records two relevant changes: patch 1.002.001, dated December 13, 2024, increased the effect bonus; patch 1.004.000, dated September 2, 2025, fixed the Booster so it no longer applies to enemies. Those changes are useful context, but they do not resolve the reported acid discrepancy.
