Takeda Takahashi is DLC for Mortal Kombat 1, included in the game’s first Kombat Pack. You need the base game and the relevant DLC entitlement to play him; owning the base game by itself does not unlock Takeda. If you want the first Kombat Pack as part of a larger purchase, Warner Bros. Games’ Khaos Reigns Bundle includes that pack alongside the Khaos Reigns expansion.
Which Mortal Kombat 1 DLC includes Takeda?
Takeda is one of six playable fighters in the first Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack, alongside Omni-Man, Quan Chi, Peacemaker, Ermac and Homelander. The pack also includes five Kameo fighters and a Jean-Claude Van Damme skin for Johnny Cage, according to Warner Bros. Games’ July 26, 2024 announcement.

Do not mistake it for Kombat Pack 2: that separate fighter lineup is Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, Conan the Barbarian and T-1000. The official FAQ says Kombat Pack 2 is available through specified larger editions or the expansion, rather than as a standalone character bundle; its individual characters can be purchased separately.
What do you need to play Takeda?
You must own Mortal Kombat 1 to access its expansion content, and Takeda is DLC rather than part of the base game. The base game alone therefore is not enough: you need a purchase or edition that grants the first Kombat Pack entitlement, or a separate Takeda listing if one is available in your platform’s store. The FAQ says Kombat Pack characters can be bought separately.

Before purchasing, check the game’s add-on or character listing in the store for your platform and region. Confirm that the listing names Takeda or the first Kombat Pack and that it applies to the game edition you own; do not assume an expansion or bundle listing automatically matches an existing account’s entitlements.
Which purchase route makes sense?
| What you want | Route to check | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Takeda only | Look for Takeda as an individual character add-on in your platform store. | The FAQ says Kombat Pack characters can be bought separately; confirm the current Takeda listing and entitlement in your region. |
| Takeda and the first Kombat Pack lineup | Check the first Kombat Pack listing, or the Khaos Reigns Bundle if you also want the expansion. | The bundle described by Warner Bros. Games includes Khaos Reigns and the previous Kombat Pack; compare against what you already own. |
| The broadest listed package | Check Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition. | Warner Bros. Games’ May 14, 2025 announcement lists the main game, Khaos Reigns, Kombat Pack and Kombat Pack 2 among its contents. Check the platform-store listing for the edition’s current contents and price. |
There is no universally best-value choice: it depends on whether you already own the base game or any add-ons, whether you want only Takeda or more content, and the live price in your platform’s store. Warner Bros. Games announced Khaos Reigns Bundle suggested retail prices of $59.99 for PS5, Xbox and PC and $49.99 for Nintendo Switch in July 2024. Those are dated publisher SRPs, not a promise of today’s price in a particular region or store.

The official FAQ distinguishes the physical base game from its add-ons: Mortal Kombat 1 is available physically and digitally, while Khaos Reigns and Definitive Edition are digital-only. The FAQ does not establish an official physical Takeda character disc or code. If you buy a physical base-game copy, it does not include Takeda DLC; check the matching platform’s digital store for the add-on and its entitlement requirements.
Which platforms are listed?
Warner Bros. Games’ Khaos Reigns announcement lists PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Store availability and package contents can vary by platform and region, so use the storefront for the version of the base game you own to confirm a compatible Takeda add-on.
