The studio describes it as a new franchise in development for PlayStation 5. Its release date is still listed as “To be confirmed,” while Naughty Dog says it will fully reveal the game in 2027.
What is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet?
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is a science-fiction adventure from Naughty Dog. The studio announced it as a new franchise at The Game Awards on December 12, 2024, and says development began in 2020. Naughty Dog’s announcement introduces a distant planet, a stranded bounty hunter and a story about trying to leave a world cut off from the wider universe.
The premise and protagonist
You play Jordan A. Mun, a bounty hunter stranded on Sempiria. Communication between the planet and the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago. Naughty Dog says Jordan hopes to become the first person in over 600 years to leave Sempiria’s orbit. That figure and premise describe the studio’s announced story, not a real-world measurement.
Cast and music
Tati Gabrielle performs Jordan. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are composing the score, according to Naughty Dog’s announcement. The announcement identifies the composers but does not establish a soundtrack release.

Is Intergalactic coming to PS5?
Yes. The game is in development for PlayStation 5, and the official PlayStation listing currently identifies PS5 as its platform. That listing gives the release date as “To be confirmed.”
When will Naughty Dog show more, and when does it come out?
In a studio update dated September 28, 2026, Neil Druckmann said Naughty Dog would stay quiet about Intergalactic for the rest of that year and fully reveal it in 2027. He said, “In 2027, that changes. We’ll fully reveal Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and give you a proper look at Jordan’s wild sci-fi adventure.” The update promises a fuller reveal, not a release window or launch date. PlayStation’s listing still says the date is to be confirmed.

What Naughty Dog has said about gameplay
Druckmann described the project as “our wildest, most creative story yet.” He also said, “This will be the deepest gameplay in Naughty Dog’s history, taking our learnings from our previous franchises and pushing them beyond anything we’ve ever done before.” These are the studio’s stated ambitions; the announced materials do not yet provide enough gameplay detail to assess how the finished game will play.
