How does the series connect to the Tomb Raider games?
The story follows the events of the Survivor trilogy: Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Netflix frames the animated series as a new chapter after those games, but does not say that viewers must play them before watching.

In Netflix’s synopsis, Lara returns to Croft Manor after a powerful Chinese artifact is stolen. She pursues the thief around the world and into forgotten tombs. Writer and executive producer Tasha Huo told Tudum that she wanted to write an adventure drawing on Chinese mythology, describing a creative motivation rooted in what she wished she could have seen growing up. That is Huo’s account of her inspiration, not a claim that the story is a documentary or historically exact depiction.
Who voices Lara Croft?
Hayley Atwell voices Lara Croft. Netflix’s Media Center also identifies Allen Maldonado as Zip and Earl Baylon as Jonah; the Netflix viewing page lists Atwell, Richard Armitage, and Tricia Helfer among the starring cast.

What Netflix says about the Tomb Raider franchise
In its launch listing, Netflix said the franchise was loved by more than 160 million people worldwide, citing a May 2022 survey, and reported that more than 95 million copies had been sold since the first game launched in 1996. These are franchise-level figures reported by Netflix, not audience or sales figures for the animated series.
