If New World: Aeternum keeps closing to the dashboard on Xbox Series X or S, Amazon Games recommends checking service status, restarting the game and console, testing the connection, checking the Xbox profile, and finally clearing the local save so it can resync from the cloud. These are troubleshooting steps, not a confirmed fix for every crash. The official Known Issues page does not list an Xbox crash, which does not prove that all crashes are resolved.
Is there a confirmed fix for Xbox crashes?
No universal fix is confirmed in Amazon Games’ published guidance. Its troubleshooting article gives Xbox players a sequence of checks, but does not identify one cause or report a success rate. Amazon’s Known Issues page, last updated November 4, 2025 in the reviewed version, did not list an Xbox Series X|S crash. That means the issue was not listed there; it is not evidence that every crash has been fixed.
Players have described different symptoms, including the game quitting at the first loading screen and Series S crashes while teleporting to settlements, wayshrines, or inns. Those posts are individual reports, not evidence of how common the problem is or what causes it. There is no reliable published crash rate in the official materials reviewed.
Work through Amazon Games’ Xbox troubleshooting steps
- Check service and known-issue pages. Look at New World Known Issues and the Xbox Status page. Amazon also provides a live New World server-status page with regional states. Status can change, so check the live pages when the crash occurs rather than relying on an older captured update.
- Restart the game. Close New World: Aeternum and launch it again.
- Power cycle the Xbox. Restart the console after trying the game restart. Amazon lists both actions but does not promise that either resolves the crash.
- Test the network connection. Run the Xbox connection check. The recommendation is a diagnostic check, not proof that a network problem caused the game to close; Amazon does not prescribe buying a router, cable, or other equipment.
- Try another Xbox profile. If possible, launch the game using a different profile to see whether the behavior changes.
- Remove and add the affected profile again. Amazon lists this as a profile check if needed. Use Xbox’s account-management options and sign back in with the affected profile.
- Clear only the local save, then let it resync. Amazon’s final Xbox step is to clear local save data so the game can sync it again from the cloud. Do not choose an option that permanently deletes cloud data. The goal is a local-data resync, not erasing saved progress.
Why check service and connectivity?
New World: Aeternum is an online game. Its Xbox listing describes online multiplayer and cloud saves, and the game cannot be played offline; Xbox players need Game Pass Core, according to the game’s official FAQ. That makes service and connection checks relevant, but does not establish that a connection issue is responsible for a particular crash.

What to give support if it still crashes
If the steps do not help, use the support resources linked from Amazon Games’ crash troubleshooting page. Include details that help distinguish a startup failure from a crash during play:
- Whether you use Xbox Series X or Series S.
- Where the crash happens: launch, a loading screen, ordinary gameplay, or travel such as teleporting.
- Any error text or code, and whether the game simply returns to the dashboard.
- Whether other games work normally on the console.
- Which troubleshooting steps you have tried and what happened afterward.
Amazon’s published guidance does not promise a particular diagnosis or support turnaround.

How long will the game remain available?
Amazon Games announced on January 15, 2026 that New World: Aeternum was delisted that day and that its servers will go offline on January 31, 2027. Owners can continue playing until the shutdown; after that, the game will no longer be accessible on any platform. Amazon said no new content or further server merges are planned, while bug and performance monitoring will continue. That general commitment does not confirm a fix for this Xbox crash.
