These hints and answers are for the New York Times Connections puzzle published on November 1, 2023—game #143, not the different puzzle published on November 1, 2025. Start with the word bank and clues below; the full groups are farther down for anyone ready to reveal them.

How Connections works

Connections gives players 16 words and asks them to sort them into four groups of four that share a theme. The New York Times says each puzzle has one solution, even though some words may appear to fit more than one category. The groups are labeled Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple, from easiest to trickiest, according to the NYT Help Center’s Connections guide.
