NYT Connections game #892 is dated Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Here are the 16 tiles and progressively more specific hints first; the reported answer groups and explanations follow under a spoiler heading.

The 16 words

Hints, from broad to specific

  1. Yellow: Think about a person’s build.

These clues paraphrase the hints in the guides by TechRadar and Forbes, both published November 18, 2025.

Color Category Words
Yellow STOCKY HUSKY, SOLID, SQUAT, THICK

Blue Second words in Poe stories after “The” CASK, FALL, MASQUE, PIT
Purple Organ plus a letter COLONY, HEARTH, LUNGE, SKINK

Why the literary and wordplay groups fit

Poe story titles

The blue tiles complete the titles The Cask of Amontillado, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Masque of the Red Death, and The Pit and the Pendulum.

Body part plus one letter

COLONY adds Y to colon; HEARTH adds H to heart; LUNGE adds E to lung; and SKINK adds K to skin.

The tempting exercise pairing

SQUAT and LUNGE may look like a natural exercise pair, but they belong to different groups: SQUAT is in STOCKY, while LUNGE is formed from lung plus a letter. TechRadar also describes a discarded grouping of PIT, FALL, HEARTH, and SQUAT based on an earth association; that connection does not match the reported answer groups.

Sources and puzzle date

TechRadar’s guide by Johnny Dee, with contributions by Marc McLaren, and Kris Holt’s Forbes guide were both published November 18, 2025, ahead of the puzzle’s November 19 date. Both identify it as game #892 and agree on the four answer groups. Forbes’s tile-list line contains a typo (“THINK”); its own solution and explanation use LUNGE, which also appears in TechRadar’s list.
