Netflix’s March 2023 forecast largely matched what followed: the company later reported that it launched 40 games during the year. The same announcement said Monument Valley and Monument Valley 2 would arrive in 2024; Netflix said both were available by October. Monument Valley 3 came later, launched on Netflix in December 2024, and was removed about six months afterward, according to ustwo’s CEO.
What Netflix announced in March 2023
On 20 March 2023, Netflix Vice President of External Games Leanne Loombe said the service had released 55 games, with “about 40 more slated for later this year.” Netflix also said 70 games were in development with partners and 16 were being developed by its in-house studios. Those last two figures described development pipelines, not additional games promised for release in 2023. Netflix’s announcement framed the plan as building a games portfolio across genres and formats.
The post did not name a specific list of 40 upcoming games. It separately announced that ustwo’s Monument Valley and Monument Valley 2 were planned for Netflix in 2024, with more from the franchise to come.
Did Netflix launch 40 games in 2023?
Yes. In a 13 December 2023 year-end update, Netflix VP of Games Mike Verdu wrote, “Launched 40 games.” The company named Grand Theft Auto Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, Football Manager 24 Mobile and Storyteller among that year’s releases. Netflix’s update also said it expected 86 games to be available by year-end and nearly 90 more to be in development. The 86 was a projected catalogue size, not the number launched in 2023; the nearly 90 referred to games still in development.

When did Monument Valley come to Netflix?
Netflix’s March 2023 post targeted Monument Valley and Monument Valley 2 for 2024. In October 2024, Netflix said both games were available on the service and included with memberships. The October availability announcement confirmed the first two games had arrived as forecast.
What happened to Monument Valley 3?
Monument Valley 3 was a later addition to the plan, not one of the two games named in March 2023. Netflix announced in August 2024 that it would launch on the service on 10 December 2024. Game director Jennifer Estaris said the partnership was intended to bring the game to Netflix members worldwide. Netflix’s announcement describes that launch strategy at the time; it does not establish present-day availability.

Ustwo’s release page records Monument Valley 3 as available on Netflix Games from 10 December 2024. Ustwo later announced the game for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, and Steam in July 2025.
In a January 2026 interview with Mobilegamer.biz, ustwo CEO Maria Sayans said Netflix informed the studio that it wanted to remove the game about six months after launch. Sayans said other games left at the same time and that she assumed the decision reflected Netflix’s changing content priorities; that was her interpretation, not a confirmed explanation from Netflix. She said ustwo reworked the game for other platforms and a premium mobile release. Read the interview.

Where to play the games now
Netflix availability has changed since the 2024 launches, so the earlier inclusion with a membership should not be taken as proof that the games remain in Netflix’s current lineup. Netflix’s catalogue page, dated 9 September 2026, describes more than 120 mobile games, but that broad catalogue figure does not establish that any particular Monument Valley title is currently playable there. Check Netflix’s live catalogue for current availability. Netflix’s games catalogue and Netflix’s support page explain its mobile-games access and device, profile and account requirements.
For the third game, ustwo lists PC and console releases, while Nintendo lists Monument Valley: The Collection, a digital Nintendo Switch bundle containing all three titles. Storefront availability and prices can change, so confirm the listing for your region before buying. Nintendo’s listing identifies the Switch collection.
