Why the date and number need to stay together
The answer archive identifies October 10, 2023 as puzzle #121. A separate independent page labels October 10, 2026 as #1217, so a month and day without a year can point to a different daily puzzle. For this answer set, use both the date and the puzzle number: the archive’s October 10, 2023 entry.

How to solve this puzzle without jumping straight to the answers
Connections gives players 16 words to sort into four groups of four. The New York Times says each puzzle has one solution, but words can seem to fit multiple themes; the categories are color-coded from yellow, the easiest, to purple, the trickiest. The NYT Help Center also says editors curate words and categories using the Oxford Dictionary. See the NYT Help Center’s Connections guide.
- Look for a precise relationship. Four words should fit one specific idea, not just a loose association.
- Test alternate meanings. Consider familiar phrases, proper names, and wordplay before ruling out a word.
- Revisit apparent extra matches. If five words seem to fit, test whether one belongs in another category instead.
- Reveal clues gradually. Use the light hint first, then the stronger clue, and leave the spoiler list until you want the complete solution.
Where to play or replay Connections
The NYT says the daily game releases at midnight in the player’s timezone and is available on the NYT Games website and in the apps listed by its Help Center. Its archive goes back to June 12, 2023; archive play requires an eligible All Access or Games subscription, so it is separate from free daily play. Availability and access policies can change; check the official Connections help page for current details.
