Docked VRR works only when the game and TV support it and the Switch 2 dock has been updated; Nintendo says game support varies.
What VRR does on Switch 2
Variable refresh rate lets a display vary how often it refreshes to follow a game’s processing. Nintendo says this can allow stable, smooth motion on VRR-compatible software, but it does not guarantee a visible improvement in every game or setup. Nintendo’s Switch 2 FAQ explains the feature and its compatibility limits.

What you need to use VRR in TV mode
- A game that supports VRR. System-level support does not make every Switch 2 game VRR-compatible.
- A VRR-compatible TV. Nintendo requires a compatible TV for VRR in TV mode.
- An updated Switch 2 dock. Nintendo’s update history says the dock must be updated; it does not say that owners need to buy a different dock. See Nintendo’s Switch 2 system update history.
Which Switch 2 games are confirmed or reported to support docked VRR?
Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour
Nintendo’s support notes say the VRR Slider tech demo in Welcome Tour can be played in TV mode after a software update, provided you have a compatible TV and updated dock. This is a confirmed example, not evidence that VRR works in every game. Nintendo’s Welcome Tour update instructions give the details.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Nintendo Wire reported on September 16, 2026, that a Japanese eShop listing for the Switch 2 Ocarina of Time game included VRR support for compatible TVs, and gave a November 5, 2026 release date. That date was still in the future as of October 8, 2026, so this is a report about a forthcoming title, not a released-game compatibility check. The report is secondary rather than a directly retrieved Nintendo listing: Nintendo Wire’s report.
