The quest is a Wandering Tale in Kaifeng City.
How to start Old Friends, Hard to Find
- Travel to Ghostlight Market in Kaifeng City and locate the hanging bridge at Phantoms’ Hollow.
- Listen to Ni Shaolan and Kun the Youngest talking on the bridge. Hearing their conversation triggers the Wandering Tale.
Names vary slightly between walkthroughs: one spells the first character “Ni Laoshan,” while another uses “Ni Shaolan”; the location also appears as “Phantom’s Hollow” in one guide. Follow the spelling and label shown in your game’s localization.
How to get the Nurturing Pearl
- Find Liu Sanlang in Ghostlight Market. Game8 places him on the west side of the market; Nerd’s Chalk says to go straight from the waypoint and look to the left, where he is drinking.
- Speak with him and choose “Request the Nurturing Pearl” if that dialogue option appears. The item is also called a life-saving bead in one walkthrough.
How to finish the tale
- Return to Ni Shaolan at the hanging bridge in Phantoms’ Hollow.
- Give her the Nurturing Pearl (the life-saving bead) to complete the tale.
Reported rewards
Game8’s walkthrough, updated April 8, 2026, lists Echo Jade x20, Kaifeng Exploration x10, Character EXP x1,500, and Coins x1,500. Its Wandering Tales list, updated April 10, 2026, repeats those amounts. Game8’s Wandering Tales list
Nerd’s Chalk’s walkthrough, updated December 3, 2025, also lists Echo Jade x20, but reports Character EXP x2,250 and displays “Kaifeng Exploration -x1500.” That Exploration entry conflicts with Game8’s x10 and may reflect a transcription or formatting error. Nerd’s Chalk walkthrough
