Once Human is a released, free-to-play PC survival game built around exploring a post-apocalyptic world, managing sanity and resources, fighting monsters, crafting weapons, and building a territory. Steam lists online co-op and PvP, so it is not limited to solo play. The “11th Most-Wanted” wording in the original headline is an undated ranking claim, not a verified current Steam position.
What is Once Human?
Once Human is a supernatural, post-apocalyptic survival game developed by Starry Studio and published by Starry Studio and NetEase Games. Steam lists its release date as July 9, 2024, and describes a world shaped by Stardust, altered creatures, factions, and settlements. The premise is to explore that world, uncover its story, survive its dangers, and compete for resources. Steam’s store listing provides the current feature and system-requirement details.
How the survival loop works
The game’s survival pressure includes contaminated food and water: consuming them reduces sanity, and lower sanity reduces maximum health. Exploration and combat therefore sit alongside decisions about what to consume and how to stay supplied.
Combat centers on monsters and bosses. Players collect and craft gun blueprints, weapon parts, and perks, tying progression to both fighting and scavenging. A Territory Core enables players to build a home and relocate it, adding a base-building layer to the open-world loop.

Can you play solo or with friends?
Steam lists online co-op, online PvP, and MMO features. The publisher’s July 2024 launch announcement also described play alone or with allies, but that is a launch-era statement; check the current in-game options and server rules for the experience available now. Co-op and PvP are distinct ways to approach the game, so it is more accurate to describe Once Human as an online survival game with solo play available than as a strictly single-player survival title.
Is Once Human free to play?
Yes. Steam currently labels the base game Free To Play and indicates in-app purchases. The listing also includes purchasable theme-pack DLC. Those labels establish that optional purchases exist, but they do not establish whether purchases affect competitive balance or whether the game is pay-to-win.

What does “Steam’s 11th Most-Wanted” mean?
The “11th” rank in the headline should be treated as a historical claim with no confirmed date or ranking category, not as a current Steam ranking. Wishlist positions are snapshots, and rankings can differ by date and category. Official publisher statements reported different figures at different points in 2024:

Starry Studio separately said that more than 300,000 people signed up within a week for an earlier beta. Like the other audience figures, that is a historical publisher statement, not evidence of today’s active population. Its February 2024 announcement is the relevant source.
Can your PC run Once Human?
Steam’s Windows requirements list 100 GB of available storage for both minimum and recommended configurations, and say an SSD is highly recommended. The page also lists broadband internet as a requirement. Requirements can change, so verify the live listing before installing.

These are Steam’s published configurations, not independent performance-test results. They do not show that every PC meeting the minimum will run the game smoothly in every situation, nor that every player needs to upgrade storage.

What to check before installing
- Open the Steam listing and compare your Windows version, CPU, graphics hardware, memory, and available disk space with the current requirements.
- Allow 100 GB of free storage and, if possible, install on an SSD, which Steam highly recommends.
- Decide whether you want to play alone, cooperatively, or in PvP; online modes require a broadband connection.
- Expect a free-to-play game with in-app purchases and theme-pack DLC, rather than assuming every optional item or feature is included in the base download.
