The activity began as part of Into the Light, which introduced the 12-weapon BRAVE arsenal; later updates changed Onslaught’s mechanics and reward pool, while some event-era Hall of Champions features ended.
How does Onslaught work in Destiny 2?
Bungie describes Onslaught as a matchmade activity for three players. The team’s objective is to defend the Advanced Defense Unit against successive enemy waves. Defeated enemies provide resources, which players use to improve defenses and help the team survive increasingly challenging waves. Bungie’s Onslaught overview explains this core loop.

That official overview establishes the objective and broad rhythm, but does not provide a complete, current breakdown of every defense purchase, map placement, modifier, or wave encounter. The most useful general approach is to coordinate as a team: keep the defense objective in view, collect resources when it is safe, and agree on how to invest them in defenses rather than leaving those decisions to chance.
What changed in Onslaught after Into the Light?
Onslaught has continued beyond the Into the Light event, but it is not unchanged. In a 2026 update, Bungie said it increased scrap earned from sources by over 40%, removed revive tokens, and adjusted the difficulty curve across wave blocks. The update also said BRAVE weapons appear in the Onslaught reward pool at every 10-wave endpoint, alongside drops from the Pinnacle Ops reward pool. Bungie’s update does not state exact drop probabilities in the available article excerpt.

- From the makers of the acclaimed hit game Destiny, comes the much-anticipated sequel
- An action shooter that takes you on an epic journey across the solar system
- Humanity’s last safe city has fallen to an overwhelming invasion force, led by Ghaul, the imposing commander of the brutal Red Legion
- To defeat the Red Legion and confront Ghaul, you must reunite humanity’s scattered heroes, stand together, and fight back to reclaim our home
Those changes are the current framing available from the cited official update. It does not establish every queue, difficulty, eligibility rule, or reward condition, so do not assume that an older event-era drop guarantee applies to every present-day run.
What rewards do you get from Onslaught?
The Into the Light event introduced 12 BRAVE weapons obtainable through Onslaught. Bungie described the BRAVE versions as reprised weapons with updated perk pools. The Into the Light announcement also connected the event’s wider reward loop to Shaxx’s Hype reputation, Trophies of Bravery, a class-specific armor set, and the Superblack shader.

Those event rewards did not all share one acquisition route. Shaxx and Arcite’s Hall of Champions offered event quests, bounties, weapon caches, and the original weapon-attunement experience. On April 18, 2024, Bungie said Hall of Champions content—including Arcite quests, armor chests, and original weapon attunement—would end on June 3, 2024. Bungie separately said Onslaught and BRAVE weapon rewards would continue in a Vanguard Ops playlist. The transition notice distinguishes the event hub from the continuing activity and weapon rewards.
How do I get BRAVE weapons now?
The latest cited update places BRAVE weapons in Onslaught’s reward pool at the end of every 10 waves, alongside Pinnacle Ops reward-pool drops. The official excerpt does not specify a weapon’s precise odds or all conditions for receiving one, so it supports the reward route but not a guaranteed weapon per milestone.

Bungie announced a different attunement system through Zavala in July 2024, saying an attuned weapon’s Onslaught drop chance would increase by 60% under that update. That announcement describes a 2024 system change; it does not establish that the Hall of Champions or its original event flow remains available.

The Hall of Champions reward path was event-limited. Bungie’s April 2024 transition notice said its Arcite quests, armor chests, and original weapon-attunement content would no longer be available after June 3, 2024. Bungie distinguished that loss of event-hub features from Onslaught and BRAVE weapon rewards, which it said would continue.

Does completing 50 waves guarantee extra weapons?
Not on the basis of the historical announcement alone. In April 2024, Bungie described an additional weapon chance that increased as a team progressed and became guaranteed at wave 50, plus a bonus weapon for completing wave 50 in either difficulty. That post also described increased Trophies of Bravery at later named wave milestones. The wave-reward announcement is historical; the later cited update confirms BRAVE rewards at 10-wave endpoints but does not verify that the 2024 wave-50 guarantee remains in force. Treat the old guarantee as an event-era rule, not a current drop promise.
