No official announcement tied No Man’s Sky: Worlds Part II to the PS5 Pro launch. Hello Games announced a PS5 Pro-enhanced version of the game on November 7, 2024, while Worlds Part II is a separate update, officially labeled Update 5.50. The idea that they might arrive together was speculation, not a confirmed release plan.
What was actually announced for PS5 Pro?
On November 7, 2024, Hello Games founder Sean Murray announced an enhanced version of No Man’s Sky for the PS5 Pro at the console’s launch. His announcement described PSSR upscaling, targets of 4K at 60 frames per second and 8K at 30 frames per second, improved lighting, reflections and ambient occlusion, as well as improvements that also came to PS VR2. Those are the developer’s stated features and targets; they are not independent benchmark results. Hello Games’ PS5 Pro announcement also noted that the game had received six updates in 2024 by that date.

What is Worlds Part II?
Hello Games identifies Worlds Part II as Update 5.50. The update adds purple-class star systems, more varied terrain and planets, a deeper-ocean experience, story content and gameplay changes. Its patch notes say the new systems expand the universe without regenerating existing planets or resetting players’ bases. The official update page describes Worlds Part II as a game update, not a PS5 Pro-specific release: No Man’s Sky: Worlds Part II Update 5.50.
Why did players connect the update and console?
The timing of two major developments made a connection seem plausible: Hello Games announced PS5 Pro enhancements, and Worlds Part II represented a substantial update to the game. But the PS5 Pro announcement did not say Worlds Part II would be the console’s launch update, and the Worlds Part II page does not identify it as a PS5 Pro tie-in. The available official sources also provide no poll or survey measuring how many players expected the two to coincide, so “players think” should be read as community speculation rather than a claim about a measured consensus.

What the PS5 Pro announcement says about the experience
Hello Games’ announcement describes the enhanced version in terms of image quality and performance, including PSSR upscaling, 4K at 60fps and 8K at 30fps support, plus improved lighting, reflections and ambient occlusion. It also mentions improvements for PS VR2. These details are the developer’s description, not a direct comparison test, and they do not establish that PS5 Pro hardware is required to play Worlds Part II.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Worlds Part II is not the end of the update timeline
No Man’s Sky continued receiving updates after Worlds Part II. On September 9, 2026, Sean Murray announced Cosmos for PS5, describing a major overhaul to space and saying it was free for existing PlayStation players that day. Hello Games’ official author index also lists 2026 announcements for Remnant and The Swarm. That later support makes the old framing of Worlds Part II as a possible imminent PS5 Pro update outdated; it does not change the fact that the original official PS5 Pro announcement and Worlds Part II announcement were distinct.
