The new ad updates the old “playing with power” language with a message about playing together, highlighting Switch 2’s GameChat and featuring Mario Kart World.
What is the Paul Rudd Switch 2 ad?
The spot is titled “Now You’re Playing Together.” iSpot lists it as a Nintendo Switch 2 TV commercial featuring Rudd and identifies Mario Kart World as a product shown in the ad. Its listing is dated April 29, 2025; that is the listing’s publication date, not necessarily the commercial’s first air date. iSpot’s listing gives June 5, 2025 as the launch date for the game alongside Switch 2.
How does it connect to the 1991 SNES commercial?
Rudd appeared in a Super Nintendo commercial in 1991. The 2025 spot brings him back for a recognizable callback to that earlier ad, including its power-themed language. In the new commercial, Rudd says: “Y’know guys, it’s nice playing with power, but this is better because now we’re playing together… Super together!” That is dialogue from the ad, not a separate interview statement.
The contrast is the point of the callback: the older slogan celebrated the power of the SNES, while the new campaign phrase, “Now You’re Playing Together,” shifts the emphasis to shared play. Reporting on the ad connects that theme to Switch 2’s GameChat feature. The available coverage supports this reading of the spot, but does not establish a formal statement of creative intent from Nintendo.

The coverage dates fall before the console’s June 5, 2025 launch, but refer to separate publications rather than a confirmed first airing: Nintendo Life’s report is dated April 20, TODAY’s video description was published April 21, and iSpot lists the commercial on April 29. TODAY describes the campaign as Rudd rebooting his 1990s Super Nintendo commercial for Switch 2. TODAY’s video page
