Fight while watching your allies
Three allies enter a battle, but one is secretly a disciple of shadow. Players take the role of a disciple of light or shadow. In the Sun Room, the group fights enemies in real time; light-side players try to spot suspicious behavior while the shadow-side player tries to deceive them.

Vote, then face the consequences
After the initial battle, players vote on who they suspect is the shadow operative. Nintendo’s description says the outcome affects the next battle, making it more favorable or more difficult. The game then moves to the Moon Room for a faction battle after the traitor is revealed.
This structure is the specific point of overlap with social-deduction games such as Among Us: a concealed opponent, suspicion, and a group vote. The battles, fantasy factions, and vote’s effect on the next fight give Shadows its own framing; the comparison does not establish shared developers, systems, or a commercial connection between the games.
