Nintendo’s Australian store listing showed the GameCube Controller for Nintendo Switch 2 as “In stock” when checked on October 8, 2026. That is an Australia-only, time-sensitive listing—not confirmation of stock in the U.S., Canada, or elsewhere. Nintendo says the controller is not a limited-time offer, but that does not guarantee a store has it available.
Where is the controller in stock?
Nintendo Australia’s product listing showed “In stock” when crawled for this article. Check the store for your country before ordering: inventory can change, and the Australian listing does not establish availability in other regions. Check Nintendo Australia’s listing.
Nintendo’s support FAQ says the controller is “not a limited-time offer.” That describes the product’s status, not continuous inventory at any particular retailer. No current U.S. or Canadian stock status is established here.
Price and purchase requirements in the U.S. and Canada
Nintendo’s North American support FAQ lists the price at $64.99 USD in the U.S. or $84.99 CAD in Canada per controller, before shipping and tax. The documented purchase channel is Nintendo Store. At the time the FAQ was accessed in 2026, buyers needed a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership; free-trial memberships do not qualify. What the controller works with
This dedicated controller is designed for Nintendo Switch 2 and the GameCube – Nintendo Classics library. Nintendo says it can only be used with Switch 2, not the original Switch. The single pack includes one controller and one USB charging cable. The controller is optional for the GameCube collection.
Membership requirements depend on what you want to do: a qualifying paid Nintendo Switch Online membership is enough to purchase the controller in the U.S. and Canada, while access to the GameCube – Nintendo Classics collection requires Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.

Nintendo cautions that the controller lacks some buttons and features available on other Switch 2 controllers, so some games may have issues with it. It is designed around the GameCube experience, rather than as a universal controller for every Switch 2 game.

If you already own a wired GameCube controller, Nintendo documents using it with Switch 2 through a separately sold GameCube Controller Adapter. The documented setup is for TV mode: connect the adapter to a USB port on the Switch 2 dock. The right option depends on whether you already own a wired controller and adapter or prefer the dedicated wireless pad. The available information does not establish that the wired setup costs less overall.
