It adds six scenarios, the new Decisive Battles mode and new general traits, while bundling most previously released DLC. The Switch 2 version does not transfer save data from the Nintendo Switch edition; PS5 supports 4K, and both platforms offer mouse-compatible controls.
When did the Complete Edition launch?
KOEI TECMO America announced the release for both platforms on June 5, 2025. The date is a past launch, not an upcoming release. The original Awakening debuted in July 2023. The publisher frames the strategy game around pursuing Nobunaga Oda’s ambition to unify Japan through warfare and diplomacy, and calls the series a culmination of its 40-year history in its 2025 announcement: KOEI TECMO America’s launch announcement.
What does the Complete Edition include?
The edition combines its new additions with previously released downloadable content. KOEI TECMO says it includes all earlier DLC except collaboration and tie-up content. The new material comprises six scenarios, Decisive Battles and new general traits, alongside enhanced graphics and mouse compatibility, as summarized on the official product page.
Six additional scenarios
The new scenarios offer historical and hypothetical starting points. Among the named examples in the launch announcement are “The Birth of Nobunaga,” “Fateful Clash,” which begins after the Honnō-ji Incident, and the hypothetical “Absence of Great Conflict,” set in January 1547. The announcement identifies six new scenarios in total; these three are examples, not the full list.

Decisive Battles
In Decisive Battles, qualifying neighboring major clans prepare for a large-scale contest after two opening siege battles. The publisher describes a six-month preparation period before the main battle. This is a distinct mode built around organizing for a major clash, rather than simply another scenario start.
Officers and the Dominion system
Nintendo’s US listing says the game includes over 2,200 officers, which it describes as the largest officer count in the series. Its store description also highlights the Dominion system, which lets players obtain and grant territory to retainers and develop their share of Warring States Japan. These are publisher and storefront descriptions, not independent assessments.

How do the PS5 and Switch 2 versions differ?

The official storefronts do not establish comparative performance benchmarks, so these platform distinctions do not imply a frame-rate or loading-time advantage. Nintendo’s US listing gives a 12.4 GB file size, American English support and single-system play for Switch 2; regional listings may differ. Can you transfer a save from another version?
Not from the Nintendo Switch edition to the Switch 2 Complete Edition: Nintendo explicitly says save data cannot be carried over in either direction between those versions. PlayStation’s US store listing describes PS4 save transfer to the PS5 Complete Edition, with conditions applying to some collaboration DLC. That PS4-to-PS5 note should not be read as permission to transfer a Nintendo Switch save. Check the relevant store listing for any conditions tied to a specific edition or DLC.

Is there a physical edition or a Collector’s Set?
The official US storefronts reviewed list digital products: Nintendo lists the Switch 2 version as digital, and PlayStation lists the PS5 version as downloadable. PlayStation also lists a Complete Edition + Collector’s Set, but its artbook, commemorative book and soundtrack are digital in-game content accessed in the Gallery. The listing says they cannot be downloaded as separate files or viewed or played outside the game. Those descriptions do not establish a printed book, CD or physical bundle. - Choose PS5 if 4K support is important, or if you are moving from the PS4 version and want to use the save-transfer option described by PlayStation, subject to its stated conditions.
- Choose Switch 2 if you want to play on Nintendo’s newer system or use Joy-Con 2 mouse controls. Start a new save rather than expecting to carry over progress from the original Switch edition.
- Check the edition details if you are interested in the Collector’s Set extras: the PlayStation listing describes them as in-game digital content, not separate media or physical collectibles.
