There is no single verified “best” Marvel Rivals preset or dependable FPS target for every PC. Start with native resolution and performance-focused graphics settings, then adjust based on whether your GPU is the limit and whether the image still looks good to you. The recommendations below are a practical tuning guide, not results from controlled tests on a representative PC.

Start with a performance-focused baseline

Use your monitor’s native output resolution first, and prioritize responsiveness over the most demanding visual effects. Reduce expensive lighting and reflection quality if your GPU is struggling; keep texture detail appropriate for your device rather than assuming a particular VRAM cutoff. Upscaling can provide another way to trade image clarity for GPU headroom, but the available options depend on the game and GPU.

Change one setting at a time and compare in the same type of match or scene. If lowering GPU-heavy settings barely changes performance, continuing to reduce visual quality may not help: a CPU limit, background workload, or frame cap could be responsible instead. These checks help identify a bottleneck; they do not guarantee a particular frame rate.

Settings by resolution

Output resolution Starting point When performance is short Main tradeoff
1080p Use native resolution and a performance-oriented graphics setup. If GPU usage is limiting, lower demanding lighting or reflection quality. Try quality-oriented upscaling only if the resulting image remains acceptable. At this output resolution, prioritize a clear native image unless GPU load is the constraint. If reducing GPU-heavy settings has little effect, investigate CPU load, background tasks, or frame caps.
1440p Begin with the same performance-first approach and compare native rendering with the upscaler’s quality mode, if available. Move to a more performance-oriented upscaling mode only if native or quality mode cannot meet your display’s refresh target and you accept the visual change. Upscaling may create more headroom, but image quality varies by mode and implementation. Check which options your game version and GPU actually expose.
4K Start with the most GPU-friendly settings you find visually acceptable; 4K output generally demands more GPU headroom than lower output resolutions. Reduce costly visual settings and consider a more performance-oriented upscaling mode if needed. More aggressive upscaling trades clarity for performance headroom. Frame generation, where available, should not be assumed to improve input latency in the same way as rendering additional frames.

No controlled, comparable tests establish one FPS result for these resolutions across a representative PC. Your graphics card, processor, settings, game scene, and display target all affect the outcome.

Samsung 27" Odyssey G5 (G51F) Series QHD (1440P) Gaming Monitor
  • QHD Resolution (2560 x 1440) has 1.7 times the pixel density of Full HD for incredibly detailed pinsharp images
  • HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadow for added depth - making every scene feel more vivid and realistic
  • The 180Hz refresh rate minimizes lag for gameplay with ultra-smooth action. Plus, the 1ms response time helps capture your moves in real-time, allowing you to react fast for gaming precision
  • AMD FreeSync reduces choppiness, screen lag and image tearing, ensuring that your fast-paced, complex in-game action is stable with minimal stutter
  • Ergonomic stand allows for tilt, pivot and height adjustments to maximize gaming comfort

How to tune for your GPU and display

  1. Set a clear target. Choose the output resolution and refresh-rate goal you care about. A high-refresh display only benefits you if the PC can sustain an appropriately responsive experience in the situations you play.
  2. Check whether the GPU is the constraint. Reduce a demanding graphics setting and compare performance in a similar scene. A meaningful improvement suggests that lowering GPU load is useful; little change points toward checking CPU limits, background tasks, or a frame cap.
  3. Compare native rendering with upscaling. At 1440p, begin with the quality mode if offered, then consider a more performance-oriented mode only if the result is still short of your target. At 1080p, retain native rendering if it is already smooth and the upscaled image looks worse to you. At 4K, more aggressive upscaling may be a worthwhile compromise when native rendering is too demanding.
  4. Keep the image quality you value. Reduce lighting or reflections before accepting an upscaled image you dislike. For texture detail, choose the HD texture option according to your device’s performance and your preference; NetEase does not specify a universal VRAM threshold or a quantified FPS cost for it.
  5. Retest after each change. Avoid changing several settings at once: otherwise, you will not know which adjustment helped or which visual compromise was unnecessary.

Check requirements and Windows graphics preference

Before treating in-game settings as the sole cause of poor performance, compare your PC with NetEase’s published requirements. Its Common Technical Issues FAQ lists NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (Super), AMD RX 5700-XT, and Intel Arc A750 as graphics-card examples. Those are requirement examples from the FAQ, not recommendations for a specific resolution or FPS target.

For persistent stuttering, NetEase advises installing the latest graphics driver and setting Marvel Rivals to high performance in Windows graphics settings. This is an official troubleshooting step, not a guaranteed fix. The exact Windows menu wording can vary by version; look for the per-app graphics preference and select the high-performance option for the game.

Acer Nitro 27in QHD 2560x1440 IPS 180Hz Gaming Monitor KG271U N3bmiipx
  • Quality Visuals: The KG271U 27" IPS monitor with 2560 x 1440 QHD resolution in a 16:9 aspect ratio presents stunning, high-quality images with excellent detail. The zero-frame design does away with the thick frames found on conventional monitors freeing up precious screen space.
  • AMD FreeSync Technology: Say “goodbye” to stuttering and tearing. With AMD FreeSync, the monitor’s frames are synced with the graphics card’s frames, which eliminates screen tearing and provide the smoothest gaming experience.
  • Up to 180Hz: The 180Hz refresh rate speeds up the frames per second to deliver an ultra-smooth 2D motion scene. With a rapid refresh rate of up to 180Hz, Acer Gaming Monitors shorten the time it takes for frame rendering, lower input lag and provide gamers an excellent in-game experience.
  • Responsive!!: Up to 0.5ms GTG (Gray to Gray) response time enhanced gamers’ in-game experience. No matter the fast-moving action or any dramatic transitions will be all rendered smoothly without the annoying effects of smearing or ghosting with KG271U Gaming Monitor.
  • New Depths of Color Accuracy: is monitor is ideal for color-critical projects producing accurate colors, supporting DCI-P3 95%. An amazing monitor for graphic designers, photographers, and film editors.

Account for shader compilation and memory pressure

NetEase says shader compilation runs the first time you enter the game after a game-version or graphics-driver update. Give that initial session time to complete before deciding that a graphics preset has caused every hitch. The company also describes memory pressure as a cause of slowdowns and crashes on affected systems, including situations in which a system uses swap memory. A repeatable problem after the update-related compilation period is more useful evidence of a persistent settings or hardware limit than a first-entry hitch.

Check for the in-game optimization feature

In a March 2026 announcement, NetEase said its PC performance optimization feature takes effect automatically after download and a game restart. The announcement does not establish a specific FPS increase. Availability can depend on the current rollout, so check the game’s current update information rather than assuming every installation already has the feature.
