To start the Passing of the Age wish, reach Act 3, obtain Silk Soar, then inspect the Lore Tablet in the Putrified Ducts. At each clue location, play the Needolin near the marked spot and speak with Mister Mushroom. After the seventh encounter in The Cradle, finish the game and let the additional scene play.
What you need before starting
Passing of the Age is a Hollow Knight: Silksong wish. You cannot begin it until Act 3, after acquiring Silk Soar; the cited walkthrough associates access to this stage with the The Dark Below quest. The quest begins at a Lore Tablet in the Putrified Ducts, near Pale Lake and Fleatopia. Use Silk Soar to reach the elevated passage and inspect the tablet.
The tablet’s riddles lead to seven places, in this order: Moss Grotto, Bone Bottom, Far Fields, Greymoor, The Slab, Mount Fay, and The Cradle. At each location, play the Needolin near the clue’s marked spot to reveal Mister Mushroom, then speak with him before moving on.
Find Mister Mushroom at all seven locations
1. Moss Grotto
“Under Chapel fallen to the monarch’s might”
Look in the Moss Mother arena area, near the drop toward the Chapel from Bone Bottom. Play the Needolin at the marked spot and speak with Mister Mushroom. PC Gamer’s walkthrough provides the clue wording and route details.

2. Bone Bottom
“Over camp collapsed to the black thread plight”
Search near the place where Shakra used to sell maps. Use the Needolin when you reach the marked spot, then speak with him.

3. Far Fields
“Scorched field on edge, shells black and burned”
Head toward the far right of Far Fields, near the entrance to Weavenest Cindril. Play the Needolin at the marked spot and speak with Mister Mushroom.

4. Greymoor
“Up towers spinning near the surgeon spurned”
Look above the Chapel of the Reaper area. Approach by climbing the adjacent building and platforms, then use the Needolin and speak with him.
5. The Slab
“Cage of one who raged against the Silken lie”
Find the marked spot next to the First Sinner’s cage. Play the Needolin and speak with Mister Mushroom.

6. Mount Fay
“Fell heart of frost, who soars on high”
Go to the top of Mount Fay, near where you gain the Faydown Cloak. Play the Needolin at the marked spot; here, Mister Mushroom appears to be talking to a Fayforn. Speak with him before continuing.
7. The Cradle
“Past cradle’s peak, last test of fitness”
Use Silk Soar to reach the upper passage beyond The Cradle’s peak, then clear the platforming challenge. At the final area, play the Needolin and speak with Mister Mushroom to complete the last encounter. This location involves a more demanding platforming section than simply finding the marked spot.

How to trigger the post-ending scene
The final conversation does not immediately conclude the reward sequence. Finish the game and allow the post-ending scene to play through; the walkthroughs associate this extra scene with the Passing of the Age achievement or trophy. If it does not appear or register as expected, platform and game-version differences may matter: the available guides do not establish a current platform-by-platform unlock matrix.
How much of the route should you follow?
If you want to solve the quest yourself, use the tablet riddles as your guide and expect to search across seven regions. Following this walkthrough gives you the locations directly, but reveals every encounter and the later scene. No tested run time or route-speed comparison is established, so the practical trade-off is spoiler exposure versus searching and possible backtracking.
