No. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl do not include the explorable Distortion World from Pokémon Platinum. They do have a Ramanas Park area called the Distortion Room: after catching Giratina and the three Regi Pokémon, you can use a Distortion Slate to battle a special Giratina there—but you cannot catch it.
What is the Distortion Room in BDSP?
The Distortion Room is a Ramanas Park encounter that nods to the Distortion World, not the original location itself. Nintendo describes Ramanas Park as a post-Hall of Fame facility where players use slates at pedestals to access Legendary Pokémon encounters. Nintendo’s Ramanas Park announcement explains the park’s access and slate mechanic.
In the Distortion Room, the encounter is with a level 100 Giratina in Origin Forme. It cannot be caught; defeating it awards the Griseous Orb. The Distortion World itself is the location featured in Pokémon Platinum, whereas BDSP’s Distortion Room is a separate, related encounter area. Serebii’s BDSP Ramanas Park guide details the room’s requirements and reward; Bulbapedia’s Distortion World entry distinguishes the Platinum location from the BDSP room.
How to reach the Distortion Room
- Enter the Hall of Fame and unlock Ramanas Park.
- Catch Giratina and catch Regirock, Regice, and Registeel.
- Use the Distortion Slate at its corresponding pedestal in Ramanas Park to access the Distortion Room.
- Defeat the level 100 Origin Forme Giratina to receive the Griseous Orb. The battle does not let you catch Giratina.
Nintendo’s Hall of Fame announcement lists Giratina (Altered Forme) among the Sinnoh encounters and describes it as a Pokémon said to live in “a world on the reverse side of ours.”

Where to catch Giratina in BDSP
To catch Giratina, go to Turnback Cave; the encounter there is Giratina in Altered Forme. The later Ramanas Park battle is a distinct event and is not a second chance to catch it.

For players looking for Giratina’s story connection, Nintendo’s description links it to a world on the reverse side of ours and says it appears in an ancient cemetery. That description does not mean BDSP contains the full Distortion World.
