The Pokémon Presents broadcast on 27 February 2026 marked the franchise’s 30th anniversary. Its biggest reveal was Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, new games planned for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. The presentation also covered DLC, competitive play, mobile-game updates, classic releases and a Game Boy music collection.
New mainline games: Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves
Nintendo announced Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves as all-new entries in the Pokémon video game series. Both are planned for an exclusive, simultaneous worldwide release on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027; Nintendo has not announced an exact launch date. Nintendo’s announcement confirms the platform and year.
DLC and competitive Pokémon games
Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension
Nintendo’s roundup highlighted Mega Garchomp Z in the Mega Dimension DLC. Players can encounter it through Mystery Gift and obtain Garchompite Z after winning the battle. The full Pokémon Legends: Z-A game is required and sold separately. Nintendo’s Pokémon Day roundup gives the event details.
Pokémon Champions
Pokémon Champions is set to be used at the 2026 Pokémon World Championships. Nintendo’s announcement identifies the tournament connection but does not give an exact game release date. Nintendo’s announcement covers the Worlds plans.

Updates for mobile and service games
Pokémon UNITE
The Pokémon Day event in Pokémon UNITE featured Zapdos, Moltres and Articuno. Nintendo also listed Meganium, Typhlosion and Feraligatr as scheduled additions. The roundup does not specify dates for those additions.
Pokémon Café ReMix
A series of first partner Pokémon events was announced to begin on 1 March 2026, alongside additional outfits, Pokémon and café decorations.

Other mobile updates
The Pokémon Company International’s event roundup also included Pokémon Sleep. Its summary listed Pokémon GO, Pokémon Masters EX, Pokémon Café ReMix, Pokémon UNITE and Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket among the games receiving updates, but did not provide full mechanics or dates for every segment. Pokémon Pokopia and classic games
Pokémon Pokopia
Pokémon Pokopia is exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 and supports local and online multiplayer for up to four people. Nintendo’s recap gave 5 March 2026 as its release date.

Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness
The GameCube game Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness was announced for Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics through Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Nintendo said it would join the service in March 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2.
Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version
Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version were announced as available on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo’s cited announcement describes digital availability on those consoles; it does not establish physical cartridge editions.

Nintendo announced the Pokémon Red & Pokémon Blue Game Music Collection: Game Boy Jukebox, a physical music product available through My Nintendo Store. The announcement confirms that store as a source; it does not confirm Amazon availability. Check the current store listing for availability in your region.

Why the presentation was a milestone
Nintendo’s retrospective, dated 2 March 2026, marked 30 years since the original Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green games debuted in Japan. The same roundup compared the original 151 Pokémon with a total of 1,025 Pokémon in the franchise by 2026; those figures are Nintendo’s, as reported in its anniversary retrospective. The presentation took place on Pokémon Day, 27 February 2026.
