It does not confirm that standard Pikachu has been redesigned throughout either game, or explain what the pair do in the adventure. The earlier “Pikachu will be redesigned” claim remains community discussion, not authenticated leak evidence.
What the official reveal confirms
The Pokémon Company’s official game page names the new characters Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu and describes them as special Pikachu with a brand-new look. The company’s February 27, 2026 press release uses the same wording: “The latest video featured the appearance of some Pikachu with a brand-new look.”
That confirms a new-looking pair, not a franchise-wide redesign. The announcement does not identify them as new species or forms, nor does it say whether they replace, alter, or appear alongside ordinary Pikachu.
Is the redesign claim based on a verified leak?
A 2025 r/PokeLeaks discussion used the title “Pikachu will be redesigned for Pokemon Wind/Waves.” That documents the rumor’s circulation, but the post does not establish who originated the claim or provide authenticated evidence for it. The official reveal later confirmed special Pikachu with a different look; it did not validate a general redesign leak.
