The available official information does not establish whether Shadow Suicune is in the current rotation or how many Trainers are needed to beat it; check the live event schedule and plan around your group’s counters and gem use.
What beats Shadow Suicune?
Suicune is a Water-type Pokémon, so Electric and Grass attacks are the key super-effective choices. Build your team around the strongest Pokémon you have that can use those moves, rather than selecting by species name alone.
Pokémon GO Hub’s Shadow Suicune counter database provides a ranked, simulation-based list with moves and performance metrics. Treat rankings as a planning aid: results depend on simulator assumptions, your Pokémon’s strength and moves, and the boss’s moveset. The available information does not establish a complete move-by-move survivability ranking for Electric versus Grass counters. If the boss’s attacks are giving your Grass Pokémon trouble, consider whether Electric options in your roster hold up better.
How to handle the enraged phase
Five-star Shadow Raid bosses can become enraged, gaining attack and defense. Use Purified Gems to help subdue Shadow Suicune: they temporarily lower an enraged boss’s attack and defense, and effects stack when Trainers use them at the same time. Enough gems can return the boss to its non-enraged state.

- Enter the Shadow Raid at the Gym and begin the battle.
- When the boss becomes enraged, look for the Purified Gem button in the battle interface.
- Use Purified Gems to reduce the boss’s boosted stats. Coordinate with other Trainers so gems are used together when possible.
The Pokémon GO Help Center’s Shadow Raid explanation describes the in-battle button and the role of gems. The game’s Shadow Raids announcement explains that simultaneous use stacks their effects and that enough gems can subdue the boss.
How many people do you need?
No Shadow Suicune-specific minimum group size is established by the official information available here. The estimate of three to five Trainers in a 2026 regular Suicune guide applies to the regular raid boss, not the Shadow Raid, so it should not be used as a Shadow Suicune promise.
Choose your group size based on the strength and durability of the counters available, the boss’s moves, and whether the group can use Purified Gems effectively. If your team is less developed, bringing more Trainers is the safer plan than relying on an unverified minimum.
Can you join a Shadow Suicune Raid remotely?
The official Shadow Raids launch announcement stated that Trainers could not join Shadow Raids with Remote Raid Passes. Because that statement dates to the feature’s 2023 launch and participation rules may change, confirm the current rule in the Pokémon GO Help Center before making plans. The Help Center describes Shadow Raids as taking place at Gyms taken over by Team GO Rocket; a purple flame marks a Shadow Raid egg or listing, and the Gym appears black on the map after the egg hatches.

Is Shadow Suicune in raids now?
Shadow Suicune availability depends on the event rotation, and the sources here do not establish its availability on October 8, 2026. Check Pokémon GO’s current official news and event schedule before heading out. Shadow Raid events are announced for specific dates and local-time windows; for example, the January 2026 Shadow Raikou Raid Day announcement gives a dated schedule, but it does not announce Shadow Suicune.
Past appearances do not confirm a current return. The official 2024 Adventure Week: Taken Over announcement listed Shadow Lugia for five-star Shadow Raids on August 10–11, 2024 and explicitly said Shadow Suicune would not appear during that event.

A successful Shadow Raid awards special items and a chance to catch the Shadow Pokémon using Premier Balls, according to the Pokémon GO Help Center. Bring your counter team and Purified Gems ready for the battle; the catch encounter follows a successful win.
