If the Adventure Sync switch itself becomes unchecked—especially after an update—that matches the reported symptom. If the switch remains checked but distance is not being credited, check the permissions, connected fitness app, battery settings, and sync timing instead.

Check the in-game setting
In Pokémon GO, open the main menu, tap Settings, and check whether Adventure Sync is enabled. It is an optional feature that can be toggled on or off. If you re-enable it, note whether it becomes unchecked again after restarting or updating the app.

Confirm location access while the game is closed
Adventure Sync is designed to track distance when Pokémon GO is not open. Niantic’s guidance calls for location access that works in the background: on iOS, the permission should be set to Always; on Android, ensure Pokémon GO has location access. Check Apple Health or Google Fit
Make sure the relevant health app is recording activity and that Pokémon GO appears as a connected source or application. Android compatibility with Google Fit can vary, so the available connection may depend on the device and software configuration.

Review battery-saving settings
Niantic says a phone’s battery-saving mode can disable sensors Adventure Sync needs. Battery-saving settings in Apple Health or Google Fit may also interfere with tracking. Review those settings if the game remains connected but distance is missing.

Wait for activity data to sync
Niantic says syncing activity from Apple Health or Google Fit may take up to several hours. Manually entered fitness data does not count toward Adventure Sync distance.

Recheck the toggle after refreshing iOS game data
Niantic warns that refreshing game data on iOS may untoggle Adventure Sync. If you use that troubleshooting option, return to Pokémon GO’s Settings afterward and confirm the feature is still enabled. See the iOS troubleshooting guidance.
