Pokémon Pokopia launched on Nintendo Switch 2 on March 5, 2026, so it is no longer a preview. It is a life simulation about restoring a desolate land as a Ditto transformed to look human, with Pokémon helping you gather, craft, build, garden, and shape habitats. Here is what the released game offers, how multiplayer works, and what is in the paid Expansion Pass as of October 8, 2026.
What is Pokémon Pokopia?
Pokémon Pokopia is a life simulation developed with The Pokémon Company, GAME FREAK inc., and KOEI TECMO GAMES. You play as a Ditto that has taken human form and work alongside Pokémon to restore a desolate world. Nintendo publishes the game outside Japan; The Pokémon Company publishes it in Japan. Nintendo’s product page and its March 2026 release describe the game and its launch.
What you do in the game
The core activities are gathering materials, crafting, making habitats and homes, gardening, and decorating. You can invite Pokémon to live in the places you create, and Pokémon can teach Ditto moves for practical tasks such as growing plants, breaking walls, surfing, and gliding. The appeal is building and interacting with Pokémon rather than focusing on conventional Pokémon battles.
Time and atmosphere
Nintendo said in its March 12, 2026 release that “The in-game time is synchronized with the real world, so you’ll experience in-game weather changes and the day-night cycle, enjoying everyday moments with the many Pokémon who live there.” In other words, the game’s day-night cycle and weather change in step with real-world time.

The available sales milestones are dated snapshots, not current lifetime totals:
Rank #4
- Pokémon Pokopia Bundle (Game + Expansion Pass)
- Nintendo reported 2.2 million units worldwide during the first four days after launch, including 1 million in Japan. The figure includes physical and digital copies. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, March 12, 2026.

Who is Pokémon Pokopia for?
Consider whether you want a Switch 2 building-and-crafting game, rather than a battle-centered Pokémon adventure. The game’s documented activities emphasize restoring environments, designing homes and habitats, and spending time with Pokémon. Multiplayer may suit people who want to build or visit together, while the Expansion Pass matters most to players interested in its additional towns, Pokémon, and furnishings. The game itself requires Switch 2; local wireless has a separate console-and-copy requirement for each player.
Storage and setup notes
Nintendo says additional storage may be needed to download DLC and directs players to its compatible microSD Express information. Check the current compatibility guidance before buying a card, since the product page does not establish that every card will work. Review the local multiplayer and online requirements on Nintendo’s product page as well, because they vary by feature and region.
