“Fan favorite” was a prediction about how players might respond to Poppy Playtime Chapter 4’s villain—not an announcement that the villain was a familiar character. The Mary Sue reported the comment on April 28, 2024, attributing it to a Mob Entertainment CEO. Its report did not name the villain, and the wording alone does not establish whether the character was new or previously seen.
What the “fan favorite” statement said
In an article published April 28, 2024, The Mary Sue reported that a Mob Entertainment CEO expected Chapter 4’s new villain to be a “fan favorite.” The same report quoted a broader aspiration for the game to be “highest quality, most stable, most optimized, and the best user experience of any of our games yet,” and mentioned recruiting “top talent.”

Those remarks are reported by a secondary outlet; the underlying interview transcript or recording is not established here. The quality language describes goals, not independently verified results.
Does the phrase mean the villain is already a known character?
No. Calling a character a future “fan favorite” naturally reads as a forecast that audiences will like the character. It does not say that the character is already popular, nor does it distinguish a brand-new character from one players have encountered before.

The statement therefore offers no basis for identifying the villain or confirming a theory about a returning character. A separate Gaming.net interview discussed whether Huggy Wuggy might face competition for fan-favorite status in the context of Chapter 3; that earlier discussion should not be mistaken for a Chapter 4 reveal.

The statement reported by The Mary Sue does not name the villain. The retrieved official Mob newsroom material does not settle the character’s identity either. Treat any proposed identity as speculation unless a reliable announcement or other primary source confirms it.

- This plush is 20 cm in height
- Official licensed Poppy Playtime toy by Phat Modjo
Other franchise announcements do not fill that gap. Mob’s August 26, 2024 PS5 Triple Pack announcement describes a retail collection of the first three chapters, not a Chapter 4 product listing. Mob’s patents page names Huggy Wuggy merchandise, including plush products, but does not connect those items—or Huggy Wuggy—to the teased Chapter 4 villain.
