PowerWash Simulator 2 keeps the pleasure of methodically washing away grime and builds around it with new jobs, equipment, traversal tools, co-op options and a customizable Home Base. Its appeal still depends on whether you enjoy a deliberately repetitive task loop: the sequel adds variety and structure, but it does not turn cleaning into a different kind of game. This is a source-led review based on published game details and an attributed independent review, not a first-hand playtest.
Is PowerWash Simulator 2 worth playing?
If you enjoyed the first game’s steady rhythm of finding dirt and removing it, the sequel appears designed to offer more of that routine with a broader set of jobs and tools. FuturLab lists 38 career jobs, replayable freeplay after jobs are completed, and a Home Base that players can customize between assignments. The basic appeal is still the satisfaction of working through a dirty surface piece by piece; the additions aim to keep that process from feeling identical from one job to the next.
PC Gamer’s October 29, 2025 review called it a “delightfully monotonous chore sim,” described its additions as substantial, and scored it 80. That is one outlet’s assessment, not a substitute for a personal trial or a consensus score. PC Gamer’s review lists its PC review setup.
What is new in the sequel?
More jobs and a continuing story
The career moves through Muckingham and neighboring towns in Caldera County, a couple of years after the first game. The story is conveyed through the environments and messages rather than being presented as a conventional, cutscene-led campaign. FuturLab says newcomers can enjoy the sequel without having played the original, although returning players may recognize continuing story threads. After completing career jobs, players can revisit them in freeplay.

#1 Best Overall
Foam soap and expanded equipment
FuturLab describes the soap as a foam that clings to stubborn stains. The listed equipment includes washer models, an adaptable nozzle, a Surface Cleaner, and access tools such as abseiling rigs, scissor lifts, scaffolding and step ladders. These options are intended to change how players reach and clean surfaces; the feature descriptions alone do not establish how much each tool changes the moment-to-moment feel.
In an Xbox Wire launch interview, FuturLab Lead Game Designer Nick McCarthy said new dirt particles correspond to the dirt’s texture and colour, giving players visual feedback about whether grime remains on the surface. That is the developer’s description of the system, not an independently measured performance claim. Read the Xbox Wire interview.

A Home Base between jobs
The customizable Home Base is a hub where players can place furniture, inspect collected memorabilia and track career progress. FuturLab also describes it as a place to gather with friends and clean smaller objects. It gives the campaign a persistent space outside its individual work sites, though the available feature description does not indicate how much time or progression depends on decorating it.
How does multiplayer and cross-play work?
Online co-op supports up to four players, while local split-screen supports two. FuturLab says online players can share progression. Cross-play is more limited than the general co-op feature: at launch, PC could play with Xbox, while PlayStation and Switch 2 had no cross-play. Check the current platform-specific support before buying if you and your friends use different systems, since availability can change. The developer’s current PowerWash Simulator 2 FAQ is the best place to confirm its latest platform guidance.

Which platforms, price and access options are available?
FuturLab lists the game for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Its FAQ lists prices of $24.99, €24.99, £19.99 and JP¥2970, while the Xbox US storefront showed $24.99+ when checked on October 8, 2026. Prices depend on region and storefront; verify the amount and edition shown for your account before purchase. FuturLab also lists Game Pass availability on the Xbox App. Subscription access depends on the current service catalog and plan, so check the listing rather than assuming inclusion is permanent.
Steam’s listing records the release date as October 23, 2025 and shows current storefront features and add-ons. The Xbox US listing shows its current purchase and subscription options. Store listings and subscription catalogs can change after publication.

Should you play the first game first?
No. FuturLab says the sequel can be enjoyed without playing the original. The story continues a couple of years later, so returning players may get more out of familiar threads, but the jobs and cleaning loop are the central draw. If you mainly want to relax into a sequence of tasks, the stated story connection is not a prerequisite.
Is there a physical edition?
FuturLab says it has no plans for a physical release. The game is a digital release, so look to the platform storefronts for current purchase or subscription access rather than expecting a boxed edition.
