Great League Remix and Ultra League Remix keep their league’s CP cap but exclude a season-specific group of heavily used Pokémon. The restrictions change from season to season, so an old ban list is not a reliable team-building guide. As of October 8, 2026, the official schedule reviewed here does not confirm whether either Remix format is currently available or publish an October exclusion list; check the in-game Battle screen and the matching season announcement before powering up a team.
What is Great League Remix in Pokémon GO?
Remix is a GO Battle League format that applies a usage-based exclusion list to an existing league. Great League Remix retains Great League’s 1,500 CP limit, but Niantic’s rule excludes the 20 Pokémon most used by Trainers ranked Ace and above in Great League. Niantic states: “The 20 Pokémon that are most used by Trainers ranked Ace and above in the Great League are not eligible in the Great League Remix.” The Tales of Transformation season announcement describes that rule.

That makes Remix a different eligible-pool challenge, not a permanent list of forbidden species. The standard league cap remains; the season’s published exclusions determine which Pokémon you cannot enter.
What is the Ultra League Remix ban list?
Ultra League’s standard CP limit is 2,500. A historical Ultra League Remix announcement used a 10-Pokémon exclusion rule based on the most-used Pokémon among Ultra League Trainers ranked Ace and above. Its Season 10 list included Venusaur, Alolan Muk, Umbreon, Swampert, Empoleon, Togekiss, Altered Forme Giratina, Cresselia, Talonflame, and Obstagoon. That list is historical, not a current ban list.

The official material reviewed here does not establish an October 2026 Ultra League Remix exclusion list. Do not assume the historical count or species list applies to a later rotation unless that season’s announcement confirms it.
How Remix compares with standard Great and Ultra League
| Format | CP limit | Remix restriction | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Great League | 1,500 CP | No Remix exclusion rule in the standard format | Seasonal rotation; check the Battle screen |
| Great League Remix | 1,500 CP | 20 most-used Pokémon among Ace-and-above Great League Trainers, as described in the cited announcement | Seasonal; the current October 2026 status is not established by the reviewed schedule |
| Ultra League | 2,500 CP | No Remix exclusion rule in the standard format | Seasonal rotation; check the Battle screen |
| Ultra League Remix | 2,500 CP | Historical announcement describes 10 most-used Pokémon among Ace-and-above Ultra League Trainers; current October 2026 list is not established | Seasonal; the current October 2026 status is not established by the reviewed schedule |
The Great and Ultra CP caps are listed in The Pokémon Company’s GO Battle League overview. The rotation and list figures are format rules, not evidence that Remix is easier, more rewarding, or more competitive than the standard leagues.

What Pokémon are banned from Great League Remix?
There is no single permanent Great League Remix ban list. Niantic selects exclusions for a particular season based on usage by Ace-and-above Trainers, and the announced set can change. For example, the 2025 Tales of Transformation announcement listed Blastoise, Wigglytuff, Primeape, Marowak, Azumarill, Dunsparce, Scizor, Galarian Corsola, Altaria, Cradily, Dusclops, Empoleon, Bastiodon, both Gastrodon forms, Togekiss, Stunfisk, Talonflame, Dedenne, Corviknight, and Annihilape. That is a historical example for that season only, not a recommendation or confirmation of what is excluded now.
Is Great League Remix available now?
The official Forever Forward schedule lists formats from June 2 through September 8, 2026. It does not establish whether Great League Remix or Ultra League Remix is available on October 8, 2026, and it does not provide an October 2026 exclusion list. Niantic says league rotations are typical rather than fixed; the GO Battle League Help Center directs players to the Battle screen to see when the current season ends.

To verify the live format and its rules:
- Open Pokémon GO and tap the Poké Ball menu.
- Tap Battle to view the active GO Battle League rotation and season-end information.
- Open the official announcement for that same season and find the Remix section for its eligibility rules and exclusions.
- Check your intended Pokémon against that list before spending Stardust or Candy on a team.
What to check before building a Remix team
- Confirm the format is active. A past schedule or remembered rotation does not confirm current availability.
- Use the matching season’s exclusion list. A species banned in one season may be eligible in another.
- Check the league cap. Great League is 1,500 CP; Ultra League is 2,500 CP.
- Check party restrictions. GO Battle League parties cannot include two or more Pokémon of the same species.
- Separate entry from Premium Rewards. A Premium Battle Pass is required for Premium Rewards, not to enter a Remix format.
- Check trainer eligibility. GO Battle League is available to Trainers at level 10 and above.
Those access and party rules are described in Niantic’s GO Battle League Help Center.
