Which upgrade path should you choose?
At level three, the listed paths emphasize different defenses. Elven smithing reaches the highest reported Magick Defense, while Dwarven smithing reaches the highest reported Knockdown Resistance among the values highlighted by the wiki.

Is Practitioner’s Hosen worth buying?
It is a reasonable option if you play one of its listed vocations and want a leg armor piece with a strong reported base Magick Defense, plus some Fire, Torched, Lightning, and Silence resistance. Whether the purchase and upgrades make sense depends on your current equipment and which defensive stat you need.
