That streams one player’s local game to friends; it is not native online matchmaking. EA describes the game’s modes as local, and its Steam feature does not establish online play for console versions.
How online multiplayer works in Replanted
EA lists co-op and player-versus-player (Vs.) as local modes. Its game page describes local co-op and local PvP, while EA Help says the remaster can be played solo or with friends in those local modes (EA Help).
On Steam, EA added Remote Play Together in v1.4.0. The feature lets friends join a host’s local session over the internet, as though they were in the same room. It streams the host’s game; EA’s announcement does not describe a separate online matchmaking system. EA’s v1.4.0 patch notes explain the feature and its limits.
Steam Remote Play Together: player and connection limits
- Two active players: EA supports up to two active players. Steam can allow up to four people to connect to a stream, but EA recommends limiting active input to two.
- Player two needs a controller: EA specifies a controller for the second player.
- The host’s connection matters: EA says stream performance and stability depend on the host player’s internet connection.
Steam lists shared/split-screen co-op and PvP, as well as Remote Play Together, on its Replanted store page. That listing gives an October 23, 2025 release date and requires Windows 10 64-bit or later, a Steam account, an internet connection, and acceptance of EA’s user agreement.

Which platforms support this way to play?
EA lists the game for PC, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S (EA Help). The Remote Play Together announcement is specifically for Steam. The official descriptions reviewed do not establish native online co-op or PvP matchmaking on consoles, or cross-platform online play.

Nintendo’s Switch 2 store page says online GameShare requires a Switch 2 to initiate, GameChat, an internet connection, a Nintendo Switch Online membership, and a Nintendo Account. These are GameShare requirements, not evidence that Replanted’s co-op or PvP is natively online. PlayStation’s listing identifies PS4 and PS5 and describes the modes as local.

What this means if you want to play with a friend
- On Steam: use Remote Play Together to share a local co-op or Vs. session. Expect one host to stream the game, and have a controller ready for player two.
- On console: the cited store descriptions establish local modes, not online matchmaking. Nintendo Switch 2’s GameShare is a distinct feature with its own conditions.
- If you want matchmaking or cross-platform play: neither is established by the official descriptions and patch notes cited here.
EA has not established in these sources whether it plans to add native matchmaking or extend a Remote Play Together-like option to other platforms. The Steam notes also warn that console patch timing may lag because of certification, so check that Steam is updated to the version that includes the feature if it is not available.
