PlayStation’s two State of Play broadcasts aired on Thursday, September 3, 2026, and have already taken place. The global show was followed immediately by State of Play Japan; PlayStation’s recap describes the double broadcast as covering over 30 games. What was the September 2026 State of Play?
PlayStation presented two broadcasts back-to-back on September 3. The global State of Play featured updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners, and concluded with an extended look at Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Revelation. State of Play Japan followed, focusing on upcoming games from studios in Japan and Asia, including gameplay and announcements. PlayStation described the two-show event as covering “over 30 games” in its 2026 recap; that is the publisher’s description, not an independently counted total.
The official event announcement called the format “Two broadcasts, back-to-back, featuring updates from studios around the world and deeper dives on upcoming games from creators in Japan and Asia.”

Final Fantasy VII Revelation
The global show ended with an extended look at Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Revelation, as identified in PlayStation’s event announcement and recap.
Limited-edition GTA VI controllers
PlayStation’s recap included a first look at two limited-edition Grand Theft Auto VI DualSense wireless controllers. The reveal itself does not establish a retail price, preorder status, Amazon listing or general availability.
