Playtika announced the global launch of Merge Stories on September 12, 2022, after a soft launch. Developed by its Jelly Button studio, the free-to-play mobile game combined item merging with kingdom building and casual battles. The announcement describes the game at launch; it does not establish that the title is available today.
What was Merge Stories?
Merge Stories was a mobile game built around combining items and units, then using the results in a broader kingdom-and-battle loop. Playtika described it as a hybrid of merge gameplay and casual build-and-battle elements. The company said players could construct and defend kingdoms, raid enemy lands, explore territories, gather resources, unlock characters, and follow story-driven quests. These are the publisher’s launch-era descriptions, not an independent assessment of gameplay.
One feature Playtika singled out was the ability to merge non-identical items, which it presented as an unusual twist on traditional merge gameplay. The announcement also mentioned units with individual skills.

Playtika investor remarks placed the game’s soft launch in 2021. The company announced its global launch on September 12, 2022, identifying Jelly Button as the developer and describing the title as free to play. Is Merge Stories still available?
Current availability is not established by the launch announcement. AppBrain, a third-party app-listing service, reports that the Android app was removed from Google Play on December 15, 2022. That is not an official statement from Playtika or Google, and it does not establish whether the game remained available on iOS, in every region, or to people who had already installed it. AppBrain’s historical listing is the source for the reported removal date.

Meir Shitrit, then SVP of New Games at Playtika, framed the project as part of the company’s portfolio strategy: “The development of this new game has been an exciting process for Playtika & Jelly Button, with the studio utilising the most creative talent and top-notch technology. This has been a chance for Playtika to broaden its gaming portfolio and develop as a brand in an entirely new way – which is core to our new game strategy. We hope that the fun we had in creating this game is reflected by our Merge Stories players.” This is the company’s own characterization of the project, not an independent evaluation.
